ARP head stud torque value
I have 23.5 ft lb in my notes. Not sure if this is the book value - suspect so. But I have ARP head studs/nuts. I had a feeling they had a higher torque value?
Thanks Alan

Awesome - very helpful - thanks. Could not find in my folder of notes - but looks familiar.
They sure felt like more than 23 ftlb. Alan

That seems like a LOT more torque doesn't it?
This previous thread has corrspondence from ARP.... https://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/1115709-arp-head-stud-torque.html

38lbs is crazy. These engines grow too much at temperature for that. And the ARP studs probably stretch less than OEM making it worse. I’d proceed with extreme caution, Alan.

Hmm, food for thought. I just don't recall what I used last time. My hand written notes are at 23.5 but that is the book value.
The ARP sheet link that proffighter sent does look familiar but I can't find mine. FWIW I left the other two heads intact and took my chance torquing the one I removed, then fitted the cambox. A bit back to front. What I did was insert the cam and torqued the cambox down in 3-4 steps, checking the cam rotation at each step. It torqued down fine - no binding along the way. But what I will do now is back all the heads off and retorque to a lesser value. I used 35 ft lb on this head. it does seem a lot when torquing them - but that is a seat of pants assessment. Thanks Alan
