As always, great information. Please find below some pictures of the documented Factory Slantnose I purchased a few months ago:

Nose lights
Twin, square lights on the rake. Only on the Euro models as far as I know? Anyone have any info on them?

My car is a Euro pre 505/506 with a model year on chassis code of 1986. It also has the inner valance treatment that you are querying. I have seen it on many cars over here. So far as I could tell, officially 505/506 didn't come into effect until the 'H' model year cars ('G' being 1986 and 'H' being 1987).

On the Turbo SE models they also have the small 'squared-off' side lights next to the indicators/repeaters which pushes the indicator lens out towards the bellows. The rubber trim between the bellows and the indicators is specific to the Turbo SE, as I found out to my cost when I went to replace them.

Very interesting photo. That duct looks like a "prototype" Porsche could have implemented on pre-505/506 cars. If you compare the metal-work on that duct and compare to the production 505/506 cars, it matches where the oil cooler goes.

Quite possibly. I have noticed that on the production 505/506 cars, there are three mounting screws for the duct panel (one under each slat) rather than just the two on mine. The 505/506 cars also have the panel in metal whereas mine are fiberglass mouldings.

Another quick question on an '89 930 Slant Nose Coupe. Were all U.S. models just the regular 930 engine and only the European/ROW cars got the 930 S engine?
Thanks. Paul

Unless the '87-'89 505/506 cars were ordered through Porsche's Exclusive Programme, the only engine available was the standard 3.3l 300/282BHP engine.
The 930SE cars available in Great Britain came with the 330BHP.

Time for a bump and a request.............................
I just joined PCA (again) and hope fellow Sonderwunsch Flachbau and 505/506 owners do the same, that is if you're not already members. My reasoning? Twofold actually. First, let's face it, the Porsche Club of America (PCA) has the database fortitude to provide a database to store specific vehicle information in a Registry. The more Factory Slant PCA members the more clout we have to establish said registry. Since the PCA now offers support for Porsche enthusiasts who may or may not own a Porsche, the more enthusiasts that pressure the PCA, the better. I will post the contact for the PCA's Registry "guru" if you guys/gals think may work. Secondly, I am getting a bit overwhelmed by PM's from well-intentioned enthusiasts requesting more info on these cars. Well, what started out as a hobby when I purchased Sonderwunsch back in '98, is cutting in on my personal time. ![]() I see a trend developing where these cars may be changing hands and new owners with questions may be contacting us. Why not have a permanent database where this information can be stored. Personal web sites are all well and good, and I applaud everyone's effects in that regard, but if the individual's web site is not maintained every year, and god forbid, something happens to that individual, the web site will be lost forever. Kycarguy 935, Bluebox and other Sonderwunsch & 505/506/930SE historians, what do you think?

PCA and support for registry
Dave-
I will be pleased to contribute copies of any Special Wishes brochures, price lists, and other pertinent materials from my files to add to the database. I think it is definitely worthwhile to organize whatever limited information is out there because our knowledge and recollections from this period will continue to fade. I know from personal experience that one's memory is the second thing to go........can't recall the first thing. Certainly we need to invite the participation of the guys from the UK who have generously shared some of their excellent research into the Sonderwunsche Programm. Kudos to you and others for your combined efforts to keep this thread viable. Keep me posted. Bill _ |

Dave, Bill, and others,
I recently purchased a 1983 Sonderwunsch slantnose with no headlight gills, and I've spent the past two weeks gathering EVERYTHING I can from Pelican, Rennlist, PCGB, and elsewhere on the internet to learn more about these special cars. The mysterious pre-M505/506 cars especially fascinate me. I'm probably the well-intentioned pest Dave was referring to . Bill, are you the one who used to run the 930S.com website? I spent hours saving off pages from that old site at the internet archive: https://web.archive.org/web/20051222185902/http://www.930s.com/service.htm Like Dave said, websites fade away, and I'm skeptical if PCA will start a database for us as I don't think they do that for any other models. So I've been organizing photos and data into a .pdf file that is searchable and divided into chapters. If you would be willing to contribute what you have I promise to make the .pdf available for free to anyone who wants it. This way when enthusiasts ask questions you can email them the .pdf from your hard drive if it's not available online anymore. I will also keep an updated .pdf on my Google Drive so you can get the latest version. What do you think?

nice car, my 84 is very similar. I recently got some line corse fuchs in the 17 inch size as the 15 inch rims that came with the car were getting impossible to find rear tires for. i will post a pic of the before and after. i have posted pictures of the BBS rims on pelican to find out what they were a few years ago and i was getting a lot of "those are fake BBS" they don't have the correct amount of bolts on them. BBS did not make rims for Porsche etc etc.. so i emailed BBS in USA and in Europe and here is the reply..
thanks for your mail which was forwarded from the road wheel company to the BBS Motorsport. Your wheels are real racing wheels 15” with magnesium sandcast centers and in very few cases we supplied such wheels to Porsche AG and Porsche Kremer tuning company to equip the “Flatnose” cars with special wheelsizes. If you need assistance or spare parts please feel free to contact BBS of America: Craig Donnelly President so just wanted to add this to slant nose thread for the guys who find the older cars here and there and wonder what they have, john with the E75 BBS rims ![]() ![]() now with the Linea Corse Fuchs

Very sweet car John...love both wheel sets!
My car was imported by Bruce Canepa back in January 1985. I sent the above picture to him and spoke on the phone, and he remembers importing it as a factory slantnose...indeed the 1985 EPA/DOT importing paperworks lists it as a "Porsche 935S". He asked if the rear spoiler tray and side slats were painted body color as that's what he typically did to them before selling them. They are in fact painted and I really like the look. When asked if it came with BBS wheels or stock Fuchs he couldn't remember, but he pointed me to another factory slant he imported for Rick Mears (and recently re-sold) that had a similar spec to mine. My interior looks like this one. 1985 Porsche 911 for sale: Anamera He often supplied those wheel discs for the BBS wheels on the Euro slants he imported. I'm trying to decide to go with 16x7 and 16x9 Fuchs (that was factory standard, correct?) or BBS. Those BBS wheel discs are pretty trick! |
