wiring issue....help please

So I was messing around today trying to figure out why my euro turn signals will not work when I use the turn signal switch...

The lights work with the flashers. All wiring is in tact.

Strange thing is when the car is off and I put the switch to the left both front and rear light up, but not the euro light. When I put it to right the front and rear light up but once again not the euro light. However, the strange thing is when in the right the lights around the license plate light up....

I am assuming this is a wiring issue to the switch it self.

Any ideas on either the euro lights or the license plate lights coming on when I use the right turn signal????

It might be in the way you wired it the ignition switch. I replaced my turn signal exactly like I found it, but have weird things happen.

Also, my 81 911SC was a ROW car, but the fender lights never came on except as running lights, not as turn signals. Not sure if that helps you.

Yeah I replaced the turn signal switch today with a new one, exactly how I found the wiring before and found that out.... makes it wonder if it was like that when I got the car...

Good to know that your ROW car side lights only worked as running lights. I think they are supposed to work as turn signal lights too, but not sure what is or isn't there.

Is the flashing relay working? Do the hazard lights work?

Did the turn signals ever work? If so when and what components were replaced before it went south?
If you are getting your car into the "Euro" look, remember the H4 headlights have an additional low wattage bulb fixture inside each headlight fixture. The rear red low mounted lamp and low headlamp illumination are used when they put the car in "parking" mode.

NathanUK - yep, they work with the hazards, this is the only time they work

WERK - they have never worked since I have owned the car except with the hazards. I purchased the car about 4-5 monthss ago.

Beyond this, I am also wondering what the heck is going on with the passenger turn signal and why are the license plate running lights coming on when the switch in put to that side? So strange...

Garrison,
Thanks for the info. I would start chasing ground leads everywhere in the lighting system. Start at the rear and work your way forward. Also, pull out all the bulbs in their sockets and check for corrosion inside.
Wiring/connectors/sockets exposed to the elements are the first to go.

The bulbs, sockets, etc. for the euro side lights are brand new. Bought them here from our host...

I think that it is something with the head light switch. Everything seems to feed from that when I was under there installing the new turn signal switch and maybe a wire is connected in the wrong spot? Does anyone have a diagram of what the wiring on the back of the switch should look like?
