air filter replacement
pretty basic question but if there is a trick i don't know about... i want to replace the air filter in the stock air box. do i need to loosen / slide the a/c compressor out of the way to get the clearance needed once the bottom of the air box is cracked open?

I have an A/C equipped 87-930 and have always been able to just crack the air box on the front, open it up as much as possible (an inch or slightly more) and slide the air filter out bending it slightly to get it past the A/C unit. I have never had to mess with the A/C for the air filter. I do have a K&N air filter... not sure if that would make a difference. It doesn't seem like it would.
Hope this helps, Bryan

Stock or K&N, you have to work at getting it in. A little KY would help.

Having just replaced the air filter on my stock engined car last month, no, nothing has to be disassembled. Flip the three snaps, slide the old one out, slip the new one in, lock the snaps.

I usually just use this time to remove the Intercooler and AC pump. The box is much easier to get at and you can inspect and clean items which normally are impossible to get to. 15-20 min of removing items allows for much better access and a lower possibility to loosing or breaking something.
