What's Your Winter Project?
Started tearing into my car today.
Removed the fuel tank to replace the vapor line and in-tank screen. I also removed the firewall so I can replace the l/h side hvac blower. ![]() Later, I'll replace all of my steel brake lines with epoxy coated ones. Anyone else care to share their winter projects?

Dr., I dare say that your enterprise cannot be considered a winter project....more likely an epic journey. For me, I'll be lucky to adjust the valves and swap out my 7006 for the 7200 turbo. If I don't get with the program soon, some of my best Forum Friends will dis-own me.

Top end rebuild and a paint job, back to factory original black as in flat-ish black.
In a few months I hope to be able to show you guys my car returned to its former glory. You all remember blackbird, well because of what I do for a living, I think it's going to LTLBIRD. see you on the other side

Got a few...
-Start by replacing the front suspension bushings by ER polybronze and modifying my Weltmeister camber bar to fit the monoballs. -Next is re-installing my dashpad properly. Upholstery shop installed a brand new Porsche one by removing the studs and clips and pushing it there without removing the windshield... not a very good fit. -Building my 993 modified headers and finding a single turbo conversion pipe for 993 and then looking at a K27 HFS perhaps... Then, that should be enough for a little while... -Almost forgot, adjusting the valves (first time)

Complete engine rebuild switching to 3.2L crank, 930 oil pump, Carillo rods, and new pistons to lower compression. The 915 will get a reinforced side plate, bearing retainer, and an LSD. New spring plate bushings while I'm there.

Lol....drmatera....the most unpopular guy on Pelican!! just kidding. You git.
![]() Mine's the "EFI Conversion" that's gone a tad off-piste... EFI Conversion using MBE It's now a complete overhaul - EFI conversion - turbo swap (to Garrett) using divided "twin-scroll" turbine hsg - twin Tial waste gates - now using Carrera intake - also 964 cams - coil-on-plugs - twin-plugging - and to top it all, we're going fly-by-wire throttle baby!! Whilst the engine/box are out, time to install the new Bilstein HD dampers (re-using my H&R springs) Will also refurb the brake callipers and fit the braided lines I bought months ago. Have got new wheels to fit (Veloce Speedline-a-likes). Install new poly-bushes all round. Then a full geo. ....Reminds me, I need to spend some time updating the thread with pics....off to Madeira for 5 days in between Xmas and NY, so while I take a break from the sun and the beer (!!) I'll try and upload everything. Merry Xmas folks! Spen. |

1. Complete the total rebuild of my 3.3L motor (split the case).
2. New Elephant Racing hard lines to front cooler. 3. ALL new rotors (go price floating rotors and hats these days - OMG!), e-brake and hardware at each corner, and complete rebuild of original calipers by Steve Weiner (they look GREAT). 4. Rebuild of wastegate. 5. Rebuild of K27-7200 and ceramic coating of ALL exhaust parts 6. New 930S steering wheel. 7. Replace the complete A/C system so I can DRIVE this car in the summer here in Dallas. 8. Rebuilding both halfshafts with all new CV joints and hardware. Be aware that the cup springs MUST now come from Germany - PCNA no longer stocks these parts in the US. B( Once this is all done, I need to decide between running my Ruf 17" wheelset or the RH 3.6 Turbo 3-piece 18" wheels. I have the RH wheels on right now but the Ruf's I acquired (9x17s and 10x17s) have NEVER had a tire mounted on them. Decisions, decisions..... Merry Christmas to all! Toby

Last time I mentioned my next modification plan...I got severly chastised.
So I'm not going to mention that I now have my lathe & milling machine all powered up and ready to go, all I need is more tooling. I'm also not going to mention that I've contacted L.A Dismantlers, and they are really interested in the project and are willing to really help out. It may not all come together this winter, as I drive the car every day, but......... In order to reduce my current project load, I've sold my 1950 33' Spartan trailer, and if anybody if foolish enough to be interested, my Jag is up for sale as well. Mark |

My winter project is to install a front mount oil cooler to keep oil temps under control on the track. Since I have been unable to find a used Ruf valence at a reasonable price I think I will follow Miguel's lead and modify the factory valence.
Other maintenance items on the list: valve adjustment, oil change, transmission oil change, lots of little stuff. Also considering adding to my data logging system. I may add two TC4 modules to my innovate set up which will give me 8 thermocouple channels. With that I can monitor CHT on each cylinder, plus EGT just before the turbine inlet. Also want to use an open channel to hook up the data logger to the speedo sensor and log MPH.
