A couple of people I know have used that on their wheels. I also believe there is a GTR rolling around Toronto that was dipped, Orange. Seems to be alright stuff, I would probably only use it on my rims.

I know some guys were considering the wrap as a temporary color change. This would be much cheaper and you just peal it off when you want.

Wow, pretty cool chit. I wonder what the drawbacks are, life of product, chip and UV resistance, just your normal mundane skeptical stuff like that. A fraction of the cost of real paint.

Todd,
Re. wraps -- I see wrapped vans and buses all the time for advertising purposes, but when I asked a couple local places, they emphatically said they do not wrap cars.

Have you run into this before? I thought clear Mylar surfacing would be great protection against stone chips.

I'd think the Plastikote would provide better adhesion and coverage than a wrap, just due to the nature of spraying vs squeegeeing a film onto mutli-contoured surfaces.

Hmmm, call "the" product what you want, but what a great way to depreciate your car . You might as well take any type of spray baum & go nuts, knock yourself out, but IMO it will never be a as good a paint job unless you get it professionally done (ie. remove trim, glass etc. etc. ). I mean really? Do you really think that there is a "new" product that will magically paint (or mask in this case) your car nicefully enough without having to remove stuff & simultaneously be tough enough to resist road rash & chips? Really? If it doesn't work out, & it looks like crap, well I wish the best of luck to you in removing it without somehow damaging that beautiful factory paint. Just MO

Canamfan why the hostility? There are guys that have considered wrapping their cars for a temporary color change and this is a perfect solution. Nobody said to plasti-dip a mint condition car. This post is obviously NOT for you
