Rough Value Please?
Hi Gents,
I bought a 76 3.0 turbo carrera full engine with transmission and suspension a few years ago for a project. It hasn't been rebuilt or used to date. I originally was going to put it into a SWB 67 912 lightweight shell I have, to make a sleeper/outlaw/track day style car. That said, if the value of the engine and trans is high enough I will sell and buy a cheaper engine and trans which should be easier to fit and may pay for a big chunk of the build. So 100 million dollar question, rough value of the engine and gearbox/trans please as I may even have it rebuilt to sell. It was running before I bought it. Many thanks, Tom |

There is a 3L engine on ebay at the moment.
I'd say not seeing it running would scare most buyers off. |

Agreed, provided it runs and doesn't require an immediate rebuild or have a bunch of oil leaks.

The market in London may be different than the US, and selling to the US is sketchy given the London scammers we have seen lately that always seem to have what we are looking for.

I think 20 is to high but thats just my opinion. Especially since you do not know the running condition. You have to factor in a rebuild to a potential buyer. But hey if they dont like the price they dont they dont have to buy it. So with that said it's only worth what someone is willing to pay if that makes any sense. Best of luck.

Seriously, that's a stretch.. Trans is short bell ( we assume ) as we also assume in excellent condition.. $4500 -$5500 Engine; pig-in-a-poke, OP stated that it was purchased "a few years ago for a project. It hasn't been rebuilt or used to date" so at the very minimum it needs a reseal.. who knows what else it needs? I'm gonna say maybe $8k just because of the market. The value hear would be to post the engine number and maybe someone out there needs that particular case number to make a correct car.. there would be additional value there. Suspension: Truly nothing special, same as any midyear 911, although it may have the aluminum S calipers, which are worth $200 -350 unless rebuilt.

I have had many emails with UK sellers.
When I say that I will have someone to come and look at the engine and hand over the money, they always come up with an excuse.

Gents,
Many thanks for the opinions and views. With regards to a few statements made - I am just testing the water, not actually putting it up for sale until I sell my other car. I have a RHD 73s targa in aubergine, which I have owned since 98 and has had a 5 year nut and both restoration. Unfortunately I cannot afford to keep it, as the market here has gone absolutely crazy and I simply cannot justify keeping it, as the value has risen 5 fold in the last two or three years alone. The car I am building will be a fun run around and I am not looking for a long term investment. I just wondered if I could sell the turbo engine, buy another which is cheaper and put the balance into the new project. As for London or UK scammers, I am happy to call anyone in the UK on behalf of a member of the forum, as sometimes locals can spot BS others from abroad cannot. My technical knowledge is not very good, but I can spot BS! Thanks again, Tom |

If you had a 76 930 with a 5 speed or a 3.3 conversion, but was otherwise close to stock, $20k for this package would be money well spent to bring it back to stock from a resale perspective.
