Agreed - Dave/Werk, how dare you poo-poo a thread that has provided such opportunity for sarcasm, comedy and general jackassery as this one has!!!

Same here (butt each to their own, buttofcourse). This subject comes up in the Marketplace forum from time to time, and I'm always slinging feces about how obserd it is to pay big money for a sheep in wolf's clothing (known as a "Sheeper" in that forum, and in the 491's case, a Factory Sheeper).

I know! How "stupid" of me! Sorry. Late in responding due to my preoccupation of Q-tipping all of the my brake rotor ventilation holes.

I have a different view of the 491. It would be an excellent platform for turbocharging. The heads breathe so much better than the 3.3's. I know of one such person who uses his turbo 3.2 w/low compression pistons in DE events. It's a rocket ship. Of course, doing something like that surely makes the provenance crowd sick to their stomachs.

Another + side of the ledger the non turbo vin should give a better insurance premium especially for those near the edge. I have had a few clients over the years that wanted a 491 for starters.

Amen -- 1987-89 M491 = great platform for building a 500+hp daily-driver.

AZ may be the most strict in the country -- we have CA's emissions standards, plus all test centers are owned and operated by the state.
Still, you can build and tune a car to pass. BTDT.

We always worry more about the ham-fisted twit behind the wheel damaging the car during an IM240 emissions dyno test than we do about whether it'll pass or not.

Well, lets see. Real ones sometimes start out nice, sometimes don't. Over time even the nice ones start become saggy and flappy loosing not only curb appeal but that performance feel also.

On the other hand with a little investment, and taking them to the right shop, they can be better than when the rolled off the factory floor, maintain that performance feel for a long time, and only need a little maintenance every 10 years or so. In fact those performance upgrades can help keep the curb appeal of the entire package, even if there's a little body rot elsewhere.

hmmmm......

Anyway, they're real if I can touch 'em

^^^ Oh yea, Upgraded wins every time.
I drive a 5'1", 96lb, Blond, German performance machine with DD upgrades every chance I get.
When it's out of commission there is always the old truck named Rawknee.

Any value discussion outside the "marketplace section" appearently provokokes some people to an extent that makes these people look stupid.

Yet, some of those people find it perfectly acceptable to fill up any thread in any section of this forum with; tit, goat, ball, dick and azz.......which just adds to their stupidity.

Whatīs that about?
I donīt get it

Other than the hair color sounds like my Vietnamese ex. Those performance upgrades were a great xmas present. Unfortunately traded her in a couple of years later due to some serious issues with the ECU that I couldn't resolve.

Really? You don't get it? Comparing the Marketplace Forum to 930 Turbo/Supercharging Forum is like comparing the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance to the Cafe Racer or the Hot Rodder mentalities. They're oil and water, different mindsets/audiences altogether. I guess in today's terms, we're Pro-Touring types; trying to eek out a bit more performance using more modern technology, trying to get more out of "The Drive".
This is more of a technically oriented forum of which the information is less dated than the Marketplace which may point out trends of which the information becomes less useful as months progress. IMHO, I really find it hard to understand why some continue to question the reasoning why Pelican had the insight to create two different forums for two distinctly different audiences.
