Should this go to to the sensor ground on MS3Pro?

nocarrier 02-07-2017 05:36 PM

No just ground. Where everything else is grounded.

Hey John, any progress? Are you using boost control with your MS pro? Philip

jpilcher 02-18-2017 04:55 PM

Hey Phillip

Yes, I am going with an EBC unit from DIYAutotune. I picked up the last of my parts yesterday. I sourced 12 Toyota Coil on Plugs yesterday from a local wreckers. Cost was $100 for 12 Denso coils. I did a resistance test on the coils, and everything seems fine.

Here are coils.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1487465789.JPG

I am planning on starting removal of SDS system this week. I still have to order RSR clips.
I picked up a coil of 3 wire shielded cable for the cam sensor today.

jpilcher 03-05-2017 12:18 PM

Did some injector harness assembly yesterday.

Constructed Cylinder 1to 3 coil on plug harness today. This is a twin plug harness.
Lot's of test fitting. Plan on running harness through centre hole on engine tin.
Left side centre hole is bigger than right side.
Going to have to enlarge hole in order to get COP connector to fit through.

John, do these cop have built in igniters or do the need a remote module/igniter?

Looking good!

dap930 03-05-2017 03:23 PM

Jim,

These coils have the 5VDC logic circuit built in so no igniter box needed.

John,

What Toyota vehicles have these coils?

jpilcher 03-05-2017 03:44 PM

They came out of a Lexus 300. Part Number 90919-02234.
On Upper Plug Cylinder Number 1, I had to trim the bolt eyelet. I was hitting the oil line feed for cam shaft.

What is best method for removing crank pulley bolt? I do not plan on dropping the motor. I was planning on putting the car in gear, putting the parking brake on, and lowering the car so wheels fully contact garage floor.
I was going to use an impact gun on crank bolt.
My crank cover has a hole located where the crank bolt is. Any problems in using this method?

Tippy 03-05-2017 06:07 PM

Unless you have a 3/4" impact, good luck. It took me a long time to break mine free with a 1/2" one.

Was just about to pull out the 3/4" when it finally started breaking loose.

jpilcher 03-05-2017 06:30 PM

Thanks Tippy. Is it a good idea to replace the crank bolt?

Tippy 03-05-2017 08:18 PM

I'm not sure if those are one time use, but I reused mine twice now.

jpilcher 03-07-2017 05:25 PM

I was on MS Extra Forum and there was a discussion about using Toyota Denso Coils.
There was a question about the use of a 330ohm 1/4wt resistor on the trigger line going to the the COP. Has anyone done this?

philip j 04-15-2017 09:18 AM

love to hear your progress John!

jpilcher 04-15-2017 03:44 PM

Hey Phillip

Wiring harnesses are completed. I added all the weatherpack connectors to the harnesses received from DIYAutotune. I am still waiting on a crank pulley from GSF. Hope fully it will arrive next week.
I plan on selling my current crank pulley with the SDS EFI kit.
I also have an emissions test that I have to complete this month. I am going to proceed using the SDS EFI, I passed last time with flying colours. I don't think change over will take to long. The biggest thing will be the modification of the scavenge oil pump for the cam sensor. I will post some pics of the harnesses this weekend.
I am hoping I can get a start up tune from one of my fellow Pelican members. I have to say, car is running really good at the moment.
