Well I finally received my pulley from GSF.
I was getting worried because Alberts email was coming back Un-reachable. His webpage is down as well. Anyway hope to get started this week, on removal of SDS. Question regarding signal wheel. I have a 36-1, should gap line up with Z1? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1496089930.JPG |
Looks like a nice wheel! Is that all the parts your waiting on? Can't wait to see how it turns out. ;-)

albert must have switched suppliers, because mine does not have those open areas.

Hey Phillip
Yes, that was the last piece. The crank pulley appears to be a quality piece. Yes cutouts are a new design. Seems fairly light. Pulley also has index marks at 60, 120, & 240. Tomorrow night I plan on running ground wires from battery to rear engine compartment. I will make sure I take lot's of pictures. Cheers. John |
John, take lots of pictures! I like all the options MS3 Pro has. A lot more than our SDS, although SDS was a good learning curve. I might be tempted if yours turns out good...:D

Hey Phillip
I think it comes down to planning, as to whether or not it is successful. I am taking my time this conversion. I have my E test out of the way, so I don't have to worry about dialing the tune in on the street. There are a few things I want to pretty up while I'm in there Valve Covers, Intake Manifold, Intercooler. I also want to tidy up the wiring. I'm trying to decide on what device to use for tuning. Laptop, Raspebeery PI, or a tablet. I think your car would really benefit from the MS3 Pro. Electronic Boost control, Meth Injection control, Launch control, etc. The thing I didn't like about SDS is the idle quality, I am hoping for great idle characteristics from MS3 Pro. I do realize that it all comes down to the tuning. I have gotten my feet wet with the SDS system. I am hoping the sequential will make a big difference. Cheers. John |
Hi guys
Picked up some 5mm hex bolts for reference wheel. What torque should I tighten them to? Should I use medium thread locker? |

Thanks Derek.

Blue lock tite on 4 5mm bolts, torqued to 5 ft-lbs. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1496323168.JPG

Well a little more progress today. I got started on removing SDS EFI system. Started up front at battery, disconnected negative ground.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1496614326.JPG |
Then I moved back to SDS ecu. The SDS Ecu is mounted on left rear footwell.
I removed the left side panel to can access to SDS wiring harness that goes to the engine compartment. I removed the mounting plate from the foot board and the SDS ecu. I disconnected all the wiring harnesses that go to the SDS Ecu. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1496621022.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1496621201.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1496621247.JPG |

Then I moved onto the engine bay. I removed the inter cooler, air intake tube, spark plug wires, then snaked the SDS wiring harness from the interior to the engine compartment.
The coils and mounting plate was the last thing to be removed. I still have to remove the VR sensor, and crank pulley. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1496621902.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1496621902.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1496621902.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1496621902.JPG |
Made a little more progress today. Got the MS3 Pro Ecu secured to mounting plate.
This will be mounted on left rear seat foot board. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1496796376.JPG |
I plan on reworking rear relay and fuse panel.
I am adding a 10 fuse panel, controlled by a 40 amp relay. The relay will provide switched power to the fuse panel. The power will be supplied from the original harness pin 40. The fuse panel will supply power to coils, injectors, Boost controller, cam sensor, etc. I will also be providing a ground terminal block that will connect directly to the battery. I will use this to ground all the MS3 grounds, etc. I will also be providing a terminal block for the sensor returns. This goes back to MS3. I was also thinking of mounting the Electronic Boost Controllor. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1496797232.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1496797232.JPG |
Where is best place to mount Electronic Boost Controllor? I am running a multi port vacuum block.
|
Why don't you build a bracket and mount the EBC where you had your coil packs located ? Nice open area , and easy to run your vacuum/boost lines.
|
Good idea Phillip.
Thanks John |
