Congratulations on the "new" car! Will be interesting to hear your comparison of this car and your 1973 911 with the 1977 930 motor.

Congrats on the purchase. It looks nice. I just made a similar long distance purchase on a slant nose from a member here. But I did fly in and met with the mechanic who did the PPI in person. And he went over everything he found with me while the car was on the lift. Airfare price, $450....
At that price point I never get why you wouldn't spend the few hundred bucks to see it in person. Beautiful car (from the only picture I see) and I hope there are no surprises when you get it. Welcome to the club.

I agree person to person is optimal. Not so much a money issue for me, more a I don't have time issue. It's a 30 year old car, so things will always need to be addressed but the seller has been a pleasure to work with and I have a good feeling that he has been dealing with me without the intent to deceive. I have yet to meet a true Porsche enthusiast who isn't a good person, and 30 year owners seem to have a bond with their cars. I suspect he was evaluating me as much as I was evaluating his car during this purchase process.

I've got a killer suspension set-up, that didn't break the bank...not cheap, but not over the top either, perfect for the street. Let me know if you are interested in details, but I'm sure you already have an idea of what direction you intend to go.

Wish my paint was as appealing as yours.....sighhhh.

The wheels are 17's. I would love to hear about the set-up. I am debating taking it to Rothsport to do the suspension as Jeff Gamroth is a magician. I'd like to have Turbo Kraft due any engine work though. The more I see of the work, the more excited I get.

Suspension in a nut shell...
1.) 23/31mm torsion bars.
2.) Front spindles raised 40mm by Elephant racing.
3.) Weld on bump steer kit by Elephant racing.
4.) Custom length front Von Strut inserts and custom length Von rear shocks with valving for my torsion bar sizes, thru Elephant racing.
5.) Rebel racing front control arm pivots.
6.) Rebel racing rear spring plate pivots & mounts.
7.) Tarett 22mm front and rear adjustable sways {front is thru body type}.
8.) Wevo weld on rear sway bar mounts.
9.) Front strut tower brace.
10.) Stainless steel braided brake lines.
11.) Hawk SPS front brake pads, Pagid "black" rear brake pads.
12.) Fikse 17 x 8.5 fronts, 18 x 11 rears.
13.) B.F. Goodrich comp 2's, 255/40 & 295/35 {summer compound, unfortunately no longer available}.
14.) Car sits at 2700 lbs with half tank of gas {yes, I've removed some unnecessary stuff}.
15.) Full corner balance and align.
16.) Car sits about an 1-1/2 below euro ride height...I know, I know kinda low...but what the hell... it's mine, and I like it low.

I would have gone with fully adjustable upper spherical ball front strut mounts, but ran out of $$, sooo kinda stopped there.

I think that sums it up, other than the fact that I do all my own wrenching, which keeps the cost down considerably.

There is a pneumatic solution, Pilot Sport Cup 2 Michelin in 255/40/17 and 295/30/18. Or install(settle) 18x8.5 in front and put the same model of tire Michelin in 245/35/18.

I decided to convert my car from torsion bars to coilovers and worked closely with Clint at Rebel Racing for the right set-up for my street driven car. I am also running the exact 17" HRE wheels as you too.

Nope...not going to go with 18's up front, they just look too big for the car.

There are several choices for tires with my set-up, no worries there, just really liked the BFG's.

B.F.Goodrich has a new version of the same tire, just the tread pattern looks too pedestrian, and they are more of a 2-3 season tire than a summer only version.

No matter, I'll be selling the car before it needs new tires anyway.

Finally here! Took it our for a quick drive, and what a blast. Unfortunately the windshield wipers are stuck "on" as well as the high beams, so I need to get it in to the mechanic for some steering column work.
