Rasant closing it's doors
I just got notification that Rasant is shutting up shop. I went to their website and nothing. I just did a EFI conversion using their kit - lovely gear and install went smoothly but have some issues with the crank signal so no smooth running as yet. I have been emailing them for weeks and no response. I eventually got and email with one line saying I might have a faulty crank Hall sensor and a link to another supplier to purchase one.
It is a bit of a shame as i think they has a nice products which provided a great upgrade to EFI. I was originally going to go with Al for the kit but I wanted Motec with COP and it was just easier to get the whole kit from Rasant. In hindsight, I should have gone with Al as, from what I can tell, his assistance with trouble shooting any issues with an install is second to none. |

The email i received regarding my crank sensor wasn't from Andrew which I though strange at the time as Andrew has always returned emails himself. Yeah, i hope everything is OK.

What is the model no of the crank hall sensor that Andrew used on your harness and who is the supplier that Andrew referred you to?

Milspec Wiring which is Motec US. I tried Motec Australia and they don't have this sensor as it is US only - HS230

Also, don't forget to make sure you have a sensor gap of approx 1mm. (no more) Worth checking just in case.

The sensor adapter has a threaded 3/8" hole that the crank sensor threads into - is this the hole you elongated or the adapter mounting hole part where the nut goes onto the stud and holds the adapter in place? Appreciate your help as this is giving me a lot grief. |

I like Andrew so if anyone has a way to contact him, let me know.
I would like to make sure he's good. Small communities breed interesting connections and he's one we would hate too lose.

Ii too am very interested, since I have one of his complete systems just being installed into my restomod...
I was hoping once done to drive down to California and have him do the final tune plus shake his hand for a job very well done. So, please keep us all in the loop in case he reopens or whatever....he is a treasure from my experience so far... D. |

The mating connectors for the cam position sensor are:
DTM 4S - for harness DTM-4P. For sensor connection |

Guys,
You are not limited to Motec or Rasant supplied sensors. Your Motec and any other aftermarket ECU for that matter will run successfully using any suitable quality sensors of which there are many to choose from. For example I use a Clewett crank sensor and cam position sensor for my Motec M130. https://www.clewett.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=5_29 Todd, Haltech make a lot of stuff locally that may interest you for your Motec setup. https://www.haltech.com/product-category/inputs-and-can-expansion-products/pickups-triggers/ It's unlikely your Hall effect sensor is faulty unless it has been powered up incorrectly, I suspect it's just a minor wiring issue. If you live around Newcastle I can personally recommend a tuner who would sort your problem out quick smart. Consequently there is no point panicking about Rasant's closure as there are plenty of other sources of parts, good advice and alternative aftermarket support for the EFI conversions Andrew has sold you. I agree it's a pity Rasant has closed as Andrew has certainly been an inspiration to me. Last edited by Peter M; 09-25-2022 at 02:13 PM.. |

Todd
You can find the MOTEC sensor if you select: MOTEC.com You can next select the ECU: e.g., M84 ; M130 Next select:ACCESSORIES , UNDER THE LEFT “PRODUCTS” column Next: select “Sensors” You will then see a list of sensors. Note:It is essential that you have the correct air-gap set for your sensor |
