First Issue

Well, I have my first issue with the 2001 325xi to deal with. I noticed when I first got it that the carpet on the front passenger floorboard was a little damp and thought it was the result of the quick detail the dealer performed prior to me leaving the dealership. Now that we have had a real good rain here in Newport, there is now standing water in the same area.

I expected this out of my 23 year old Porsche 944 but not a 6 year old BMW. I have no sunroof.

What could be the problem and how can I stop it? Thanks!

The most common cause would be the vapor barrier in the door was not replaced properly after a repair. Probably a window regulator replacement.

I just developed the same problem in my 2001 325xi. Major water on front passenger floor, and a small amount on driver rear floor. What was the cause in your case, and how did you go about fixing it?

hi!! I've had this problem previously. the problem was that the a/c duct drainage had shifted out of position and thus a/c water was drainning into the car and not outside it. had to have it readjusted to the correct position to solve the problem. hope this is helpful. Cheers!!

I've located the leak on our 2002 325xi. The moisture barriers on all 4 doors came unglued along the entire bottom edge. The moisture barriers are held on with what appears to be some type of rope caulk, not glue. It is disappointing to see such shoddy materials used on a BMW.

Tom, actually the rope caulk works better than glue as it doesn't dry out over the years.
