Any Good Tire Deals Out There?

Just curious if there are any stellar tire package deals out there these days.

Don't need immediately, but based on the age of what's on the bike, a replacement is due.

I don't even know what the good tires are anymore, it's been a few years since I bought any. (After this I'll ask about spark plugs & oil)

120/70 17
180/55 17

There may be stellar looking promotional offers here and there over the year so if you watch closely you can snag a pair in the right time...

I don't necessarily watch that closely but do shop around when the time comes. Depending on the type of bike these tires are for and type or riding you do, you can always sift through offerings and find what would work for you through regular suspects Evil-bay, Amazon, Comp-access etc...

If price is very important, Continental Conti-motion or similarly named set of tires is around $150-160 in the dimension you listed. No personal experience but others seem to like it for what they offer... I had good luck w Michelin Pilot Road 4 GT on LC GSA as primarily road usage so that can be an option although twice the cost of Contis but they offset cost by lasting longer...

For spark plugs and oils, you could follow mfg recommendations - although that's whole another topic, oils especially...

Dunlop is offering $40 rebate on Roadsmart 3's through the end of the month, and possibly other tires in their lineup. Go to Dunlop/rebate, enter your tire selection and size, and you will learn if a rebate is offered. The offer may be extended again later in the year. Having been through almost a dozen sets of RS 3's, I can say that they will serve sport-touring riders, and many sport riders, well.

I don't know of any good deals. But I just bought a set of Michelin pilot road 2 for $268.76 at Rocky Mountain ATV/MC. They were the same size as yours. $151.88 rear / $116.88 Front. I just really like these tires.

Thanks for this. I had just received a set of Dunlop Roadsmart 3's the day you posted this. Dunlop makes it easy with an online rebate firm.
P. S. First set on the R1100s, have had original roadsmarts and 2's on my Superhawk. Love this tire.

Amazon has the Pirelli Angel ST on closeout for $200 for the pair. Also available from Revzilla, if you request price match they’ll give you the same deal. I just bought two pairs for both my R1200S and Multistrada. Good street tires with great grip for a slow wearing tire.

Thanks for the tip Zamirz! I just happened to be thinking it was tire replacement time once again and read this thread. I hopped on Amazon and bought a set, great deal (217.99 OTD!) paid almost twice that for my Pilot 4’s. I see you’re in the SF Bay Area, me too...Santa Cruz Mts. PM me if you’re riding in the area.

Looks like the Pirelli Angel comes in an ST and also a GT. GT being the more aggressive..

When your tires come in please do a check of the manufacture date, I think most are actually being drop shipped and should be 2018 or newer... (I had sent a message to one of the dealers there)...

I had read some "rule" that if your bike tires are > 6 years old they should be replaced. Kind of like the helmet rule I guess...

I still like the Continental Road Attacks, which are now Road Attack II EVO's and there is also a Road Attack III, which is a completely different tread design than the Head Ski looking one...

[QUOTE=ckcarr;10572670]Looks like the Pirelli Angel comes in an ST and also a GT. GT being the more aggressive..

Tires get hard with age. They can be quite slippery if they are too old. I have seen that with Metzelers I was using years ago.

I have had 4 sets of Pirelli Angel GT's on my 2004 R1100s. I love those tires on that bike. They are very planted. What I mean by that is the bike is very stable and solid whether you are riding in a straight line or cornering. They are not a quick handling tire. My R1100s is not quick handling anyway. That is one of the things I really like about the bike.

I have a 2014 Honda VFR 800 I bought in July. I had the dealer put new Pirelli Angel GT 2's on it before I picked it up. I would have to ride both bikes each with the different generation Angel GT's to see how each bike responded. The Honda handles much quicker than the BMW, but I do think the Angel GT 2's are a little quicker handling as well.

The Angel Gt's were a successor to the Pirelli Angel ST's

Mine are F: 1618, R: 4517

So the rear is going to be 2 years old in a few months and the front will be 2 years old in Q2 of next year.

If I was paying full boat MSRP this would be unacceptable, but for the price it's a good deal and tires are usually stored in a warehouse (cool, dark environment). Mine were drop-shipped from CA so it's not a super dry environment. I ride daily so both tires will likely need to be replaced within a year and while they may not be at absolute peak performance, they're safe.

Ok, now I don't want a ton of crap about this but I just purchased a pair of Shinko
Verge tires ( 180/55 and a 120/70) for $210 for the set.

I put the rear on yesterday and rode it about 125 miles today, feels good, front goes on next week .

I'll report back after a 1000 miles or so.

Price was good, reviews good...I will see!

No crap from me. I'm running Shinkos on my LT rear (777HD) and 1150RT (009 Raven). Happy with both.

Well,
I ended up getting a set of Continental Road Attack II EVO's off Amazon for $233.56 due to some interaction with the seller (who was great). I've decided to mount in the spring though, so I'll store for a bit.

Love'n the Pirelli Angel ST's

$200 delivered 120/70/17 & 180/55 17 from Amazon. Mounted them up, put the requisite amount of Ride-On in them and took off. Great deal, great tires late 2018 date codes so no worries there. Have had them a week now and put ~ 600 miles (all mountain roads) and they are glued. If you're looking for a good deal or great tires get thee to Amazon now.
