Well, those wagon wheels will go well with that pirated ST front grill.

Hi Bill,

I checked this out with our sales team and as I explained yesterday, due to the

complexity involved with manufacture on the BMW fitments, Dymag are no longer

offering any Motorcycle fitments for the BMW model.

Sincere apologies,

Mike Partner.

Here is a thread about the weights:

http://www.i-bmw.com/showthread.php?t=12319&page=2

Here is what I gleaned out of it

Stock BMW wheels:

11.33 lbs front / 11.75 lbs rear

total = 23.08 lbs

HP wheels:

Front, with bearings, spacer, seals, and valve stem installed. No brake hardware installed or on hand to place on the scale: 9 lbs, 9 oz = 9.56 lbs
Rear, bare except for the valve stem installed: 10 lbs, 6 oz = 10.38 lbs

Total = 19.94 lbs

Difference is 3.14 lbs

Some analysis on price.

Chicago BMW price on HP wheels = $1114.40 + $1174.40 = $2288.80

Chicago BMW price on cast wheels = $682.38 + $671.96 = $1354.34

Price difference is $934.46

That's $297.59 for each pound of savings.

Jeff and Brad have this thing about 1 lb of unsprung weight = 1 HP gain, and 1 HP gain on a BMW should cost $264.

looks like i will be saving 7.5 pounds on the stock items with my BST's and $500 because I only paid $3K for them new, I am not sure where those BST weights came from, because the website shows 7.0 lbs front and 8.5lbs rear (http://www.blackstonetek.com/announcingBMW.htm) , which makes that the best $/lb saving of all by far. I did save a pound of piston weight for $1400, which will not only add HP by virtue of lower mass, but also of higher compression!!

the rear wheel on the BST looks heaver than the magtan wheel.
How can that be?

From this page - http://www.bmwk1200s.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=9023

by jw on Fri Aug 01, 2008 10:57 pm

Rear is 6.875# on the scale. That's 4.87# less than the stock sport wheel. And almost 1.5# lighter than BST's carbon fiber wheel.

Front is 8.2#. 3.13# less than stock. 0.72# heavier than the BST's.

Total weight is 15.07#. 8# less than stock. 0.76# lighter than BST carbons.

I am just telling it like I'm reading it.

In case anybody else is interested in the BSTs...

Dear simonlok,

Hi, Yes I can get some more but only in the new year. Price if paid by wire transfer is $2950.00 inlcusive shipping. payment with paypal will be higher.
Regards Kevin (stonej@mweb.co.za)

At that price, the math works out according to the Jeff / Brad rule:

$ / lb gained over stock: $226.45

$ / lb gained over HP: $172.03

I think I'd rather go with the BSTs. For $2950 with shipping, if paid by wire, count me in for my R1200S. All I need is the wire address and instructions when the wheels are available in the new year.

Now I'm having a very strange thought.

What if I put a BST front on with a Magtan rear. That would yield the lowest weight. Can anybody think of a reason why that would not work?

This is where I got mine, and just as an FYI, the up charge for doing it by paypal is significant (hundred$) and the wire transfer is not as straightforward as you might hope, because it is south africa. I sent my money on Dec 9th, and it still hasn't cleared yet, but I am sure Kevin is legit, he has a long list of satisfied customer feedback. I had inquired about a group buy, and he told me he could get 5 more sets after the first of the year, but no more than that for fear of pissing off the US distributor.
