Interesting dilemma: getting a flat six for tuning a VW Beetle or buying a 911?

Rather interesting the number of posts and yet the 1100s has never had a great deal of interest over the years despite various options or folk prepared to try!!!

I'm not sure I'm following exactly but I would guess that most owners of the r1100s were genuinely content using the bike for the original intended purpose of sport touring, cases, etc. Sure it's fun to tinker when the cost isn't great, or you can recover your money by selling the parts down the road. But as for big bore kits and stuff where you sink unrecoverable money into the engine, the cost / benefit is probably not there.

I'd still buy the big bore kit if it was available. Ever since working at AMOL Precision, I wanted a boxer built to the balls so I enjoy modifying my R12S. Got some more cosmetic changes coming soon that will really make it unique. ![]()

@Chris: Bernhard Baldes and Schüle did that. Don't know more, I'm sorry.
The times when I owned a R1100S are over since 2007. ![]() |
