Rapid Dog, that is a nice, mixed bag, build up you sent. I am sure it will sell. Note that is has one very rare part, which I had two of to use, when I build the first "long rod" airhead I know of in the early eighties.

That front disc is a Harry Hunt disc. These were aluminum with a plasma coating and weighed nothing at all. Worked quiet well as long as the plasma stayed in place. Very rare. I sold my last one to be used on the rear end of a airhead cafe project, which is a great place to use one because we have much better front disc now...........but still not as light as the HH units were.

Dr. Curve, you're right. Doing "the ton" on a pre-70 can be sketchy with those old stock drums. There were upgrades available from certain sources, such as a double-leading shoe type and the factory sidecar shoes. But my memory gets hazy that far back. And in my old age, I've become a purist.

Below is a pic of the airhead twin racer we ran out of my shop in the early 00s. Speaking of disc brakes on a vintage BMW racer, we found an iron disc rotor was necessary on the track, in order to prevent fading.

I have a R75/5 short frame, 1971 I think.... very low miles, needs TLC on many fronts. Did 111 mph GPS down a desert road! My life is all travel, no fun now. When I'm home I take the BCR, DR650, and various running bikes for small runs to keep them alive. I have no time for this airhead - anybody want it? Not free, but not expensive either for a 1971 with just a few thou on it. PM if interested

That is cool.
It even uses the current FD-that's a really neat one-off custom.

Wow!! What a obsessive beauty in a effort to blend two worlds of idealism into one euphoric statement of outright one-off-ness! Never seen anything even remotely like it. Thank you so much for letting me know there are others out there with torn brains and mixed signal building habits.

Where is your R75/5? About how much do you want for it? By chance, would you have a set of bags and rack for the SWB 1971 R75/5?

I too am really taken lately with the /2 bikes. Maybe I'll be able to find a "rider" in the next year or two for a reasonable amount.

Back to the original topic... I bought a '74 Guzzi Eldorado a couple of months ago. Of course it's a totally different ride than a modern bike, particularly an R12S. I'm really enjoying it though. I even picked up an open-faced helmet, roper gloves and wear jeans when I ride it. Guess I'm at "that age" where it brings back memories.
