Pelican ride over the Crest

Thought I'd pop this up as from our last thread it looked like Thursdays were the days that suited everyone, and I'm open this and next Thursday, so thought I'd throw it out there and see if anyone is up for a ride over the Wrightwood for a bite of lunch.

Crapola - I have an office *golf* outing next Thursday - oh, the humanity!

I actually could maybe do tomorrow, although I couldn't leave my house until 10:30 or so (from near Thousand Oaks).

Well I think it'll have to be next Thursday for me too now, but we could also aim for the one after that too if it works better for all.

I'd say meet up at the Shell station at foot of the Crest at around 10.30am and then head up to Newcombes, stop for a coffee and a chat, then go up to the Tunnels, take some pictures around there, and then on into Wrightwood for lunch, getting there around 12.30pm.

Have lunch, and ride back getting back down to La Canada at around 2.30pm before the afternoon traffic builds up too much.

put me in the "most likely will make it, unless something comes along where i can make money instead." column.

i'm pretty sure tm1100s owes me a lunch, though i don't remember why.
we can debate that over the mid-day meal.

Hell, I'll ride BOTH weeks! But in the interest of actually getting a ride going, I say those that can, lets stick with the June 23rd and if there is enough interest (which it sounds like there will be) the others can do another ride on the 30th.

AndyMac? Not trying to step on your toes but I'm guessing you are way busy so I stepped in until you return.

Sounds good to me, at this moment I'm open both 23 & 30, but my work does tend to be last minute on call stuff, so I may or may not make it, but I want to make it for sure. Maybe I'll take the MM this week, and the S next! :-)

No we don't. You can ride faster than everyone else, stay up front, and leave the last guy at the back of the pack to get picked off for the award certificate.

yea, being faster than everybody else isn't always the hot set-up.

not sure if they still do it, but at the kinetic energy contest up in arcada, the winner was the person who finished dead middle in the results.
i think it's called the mediocrity award.
that's the one i want. right smack in the middle.

up front doesn't work ("seriously officer, those guys were chasing me. i was scared to death!").

picked off from the back isn't fun ("seriously officer, i have no idea who they were. scared the hell out of me going past, so i guess i flinched and might have turned the throttle a tad due to sheer fright and all".)

maybe the middle will work...

problem is, when i got my last ACH ticket (tip-toed over the yellow) i was in the middle.

on the bright side, i just got my crisp new proof of insurance card.
looking forward to trying it out.
