Front Stand R1100S

From time to time someone will post up looking for the BMW front stand, save your money and get one of these. Cycle Gear has these on sale for 44.95, works great.

That's from cheap bast@rd engineering it's not pretty but it works. It took me about a half hour to whip that out.

OK ya che@p bastard... I'd like to buy 1/2 hour of your time, plus materials.

Aw hell, I'll even buy an hour if you'll clean it up a little for me!

Looks like a well supported stand for the front.

Motoman, it would probably be more cost effective to have someone build that for you locally than for me to build that and ship it to you. It's nothing special, I think I built it out of 1" square 1/4'' wall square tube. When I get out to the garage to work on the bikes I will gladly take some measurements and PM them to you. If I get bored this winter I might build myself a nicer one just for giggles. That one was built in a hurry and was welded with a stick welder. I'm thinking I can build a better copy of the high dollar stand and mig or tig weld it to make it prettier, like I said this one aint pretty but it does work.

OK, no offense and not to be negative, but to me a fork-lifting stand is nearly useless for anything but putting on tire warmers, and are you doing that? You can't take the front wheel off, can't adjust the shock preload or remove it because the spring is compressed. What good is this? A headstock stand that lifts the bike and frees the front suspension is useful, this is not, so much.

might work for changing tires also. And for storage to keep form having a flat spot on the tire, if it is a long storage.

Could you send me the measurements, or post here? I am interested in a winter project!

Noble;
What you are stating is quite true, but with the front stand I use......and it is similar to Roadrash666's stand....I can still remove my front wheel.

On my old road race bikes, I built front stands that would plug in to the lower section where the steering hole was.
That lifted the front end and unloaded the suspension also.
Bikes with the Telelever are not so easy to make a stand for the front......I tried.

Cheers

I'm a moron. I forgot about how the lower axle pinch setup works on these bikes, so I just zoomed in on one of my photos to remind myself. In my defense I was just working on my CBX with the lower bit that drops away. Yeah, this stand would have plenty of good uses. I agree that a headstock stand is a definitely a bit more useful, although it's a lot more dough that what the OP was really posting about. Sorry for the static, carry on.

N.

P.S. Thanks to the OP - I just bought one.

The other option for the rear stand, other than purchasing from the Dealer for $300, is to buy the Pitbull forward facing stand and make spools. Roadrash, would it be possible for you to whip up some kind of spools that would stay attached to the bike??

Motoman, I really wish I had the talent to machine some spools, then I wouldn't need to pull my belly pan to use my stand. Bob K, I wil take some better pics or just draw up some simple plans and post them up with some measurements,so that the guys who have the means to make stands or have them made can do so. Fair enough? I'm not looking to make any money off of anyone, I just made that one up so I could pull my back wheel. I originally didn't have wheels on it, but when I put the front stand under it the rear tire touched the groundThe wheels were the easiest way I could come up with to raise the stand. Noblehops, I definitely do not use tire warmers on the BCR, that is my street bike. I have an 06 Kawasaki ZX6R that I flog the piss out of on the race track. Up until this year I have run street tires on it, but I am now to the point that I am spinning the rear pretty hard and sliding the front occasionallyThe pilot powers are going on the BCR as the centers are like brand new and the edges are still decent, track bike gets slicks this year. Glad the info on the front stand was of some use, I use mine alot for changing tires

Great Co.

Cheap Bast@rd engineering is also my employer! Our company knows how to reward its employees..$$$..When it was time to take the rims to the shop for new tires, I decided that I would build a center stand from scraps I would find in my garage. Being slower then other employees, it took me a full day, et voila! an other rewarding day.

If you have the passenger pegs on without system case mounts. You can put a spool on them M6 I think. And make a standard stand that lifts up 51cm. I had my stand that I contacted the maker, and they just made me and extension to put the stand up tp 51cm.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/bmw-r1100s-r1200s-tech-forum/126313-pitbull-bmw-stand-buyer-beware.html

saw this awhile ago. The drawings are in there with the measurement to put up a rear stand that lifts spools attach to the passenger pegs. That was all I needed to get the company that made my stand to make an extension for my stand.
