Finally dug out an old picture of my previous bike , a 1998 Blackbird .What a machine but one to which I had no emotional attachment , not like my trusty R12.

My new-to-me '99 R11S! I just did the 12k on it this weekend. Also de-canistered thanks to help from this forum. Thanks!

I also uploaded a picture of my other toy, a '75 CB360 that will always need a little more work.

Congrats and welcome OCEG...'99s are the best IMO! You may want to do the R1200 Hexhead Left Camchain Updrade...~takes an easy hour of work and eliminates the R1100 Oilhead Cam Chain rattle during start-up.

Nice CB360 Cafe too!..going for the minimalist look aye?

Thanks shreddr. 'Twas hell getting both of them here, though. I heard BST was putting K front wheels in R boxes, and the R front wheels in K boxes for months. The rims of the wheels are actually the same, though the hub is larger on the K wheel.

It was nearly a month before I got the replacement front wheel. Too bad I did not have them for the 4000+ mile trip to and from the MOA Rally! I guess they'll the real work out on the way to Redmond, with some shorter runs in the meantime.

Now if we could just come down from 107-113 degree highs! Soon enough, I suppose.

Glad the Hugger worked out well mate . I always worry when I reccommend something that there will be problems . It looks great on your bike .

Hey, when you get carbon wheels, what considerations (worries?) are there when you take them down to your local dealer to have the tires mounted? Do you have to beg them to be EXTRA EXTRA EXTRA careful not to nick them, or is it a foregone conclusion that they are going to get at least a little damage? What's up with that?

My concern is-I don't bring them to a dealer. In addition, there is no reason to damage the wheels if you know what you are doing.
I've worked with motorcycle and automotive dealers representing factories for 30 years and the average technican skill level is under-whelming. Unless you are blessed to have a top notch shop in your area with technicians who have a dedication to quality and have been provided the proper equipment, you have to do it yourself.
I invested in a NoMar tire changer and it works great with my BST carbons.

i take mine to an independent guy, who not only lets me watch him do it, but I help as well, he knows their value and makes every effort to protect them. if you go to a shop that won't let you be part of the process, go somewhere else. the last thing you want is some tech bringing you back your scratched up rims and telling you thats just the way it is.

with that said, i must say the rims seems to be very strong and durable, mine are still very shiny with no hint of dulling due to raod spray.

My dealer had installed BST wheels on 2-4 bikes the owner owns, prior to mine. So they knew what to do, and charged me $50 for the tire change, but I also needed some $60 in rotor screws and such (this time). Whole change this time was $118, but next time $50.

They did such a beautiful job, too. They know what they are dealing with, and what they are doing. For $50 and that expertise, I'll go back and back.
