Just replaced all of the bushings. It shifts much better, however I have a vibration felt in the shifter when in second gear only. All other gears are fine. I was looking at the article on replacing the bushing and the only confusing part is the photos of the selector rod. It has a slight bend on one end. I looks like the bend goes forward toward the transmission. One picture seems to show the bend up. In the other it looks like it bends down??
Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks, |

Take a look underneath the car and see if the shifter is rubbing on the giubo (flex disc between transmission output shaft and driveshaft. I hear its a common issue.
Also, are the bushings OEM equivalent, or harder durometer? If you changed them all to delrin, you could just be bringing more NVH into the car.

Shifter
Bleucamaro, Thanks I will get the car up in the air and check clearances. The shift rod has a slight down turn on one end, maybe I got it in backwards. Only changed the front bushing to delrin. The rest are stock.
Thanks for replying. |

Got the car up in the air. The shift rod has a bend at one end. I placed the bend forward towards the transmission. The guibo rubs the rod in second gear. I will reverse the shift rod so the bend is at the rear and hopefully will provide the clearance needed.
The pictures on the DYI show it forward. My bad for not taking pictures before tearing it apart. Never to old to learn. |
