What goes wrong on a 2002 Boxster
I'm the original and proud owner of a 2002 Boxster. Its coming up on 29,000 Miles and 12 years old.
I've never had a problem with it, I was rear ended in 2005 and the engine sent to the local Porsche dealer for recall work. Other than that I've changed the oil and the front brakes and Tires. That's about it. What should I be looking at and inspecting? What typically goes wrong with a lightly driven car at 12 years old? Which fluids should be changed? What belts should be changed. I plan to keep my Boxster for at least another 20 years.. I want to keep up with the maintenance. Thanks for the help. Bob |

My thoughts on your use pattern and maintenance.
Change oil once a year with filter. Do 30, 60, 90k services at 15k intervals. Yes do brake fluid too. Trans fluid too every 6 years if TIP. Watch tire dates as well as wear. Every 6 years, replace them. You are driving a 13 year old car and plastic things age and become brittle. Water pump is a good idea. AOS also comes to mind. A low use 2002 is the prime IMS failure candidate. When I got to using mine so infrequently, I sold it so someone else could enjoy it. |
