1971 2.2ltr engine complete
Thinking of selling this engine complete
2.2 with 70000 miles on it . clean, zeniths, heat exchangers are in excellent condition even for a 40 year old car. over 100psi oil pressure cold . would 4000.00 complete from clutch to muffler be a fair price for one of these? Too much or too little? |

I just bought a good running 2.0, with Zeniths, a rebuild 901 and a 901 core for $2000 from a guy in Kimberly, so $4000.00 fo unrebuilt is probably high. Another data point, I paid $3500.00 for a complete running 2.4 with original MFI about 3 years ago.

The 2.0 was smoking deal, the 2.4 more typical I think. So $3000.00 for yours maybe?

I agree the 2.0 was a smoking deal
fans ,alt with housing go for 300+ zeniths and these are clean 500+ the heat exchangers are excellent say 600 muffler 200 nevermind distr, heater backdate stuff , air cleaner housing, harness ,plug wires,,mount, maybe better to part out but it runs good so...... |

I almost bought Andrews 3.0 CIS euro complete for $4500 last christmas. He was to pay for a proper leakdown test.
To me without a proper leakdown test it ain't worth a pinch of raccoon poop. (well it is... but it's a core.)

Unfortunately, the 2.2T is about the least desireable 911 engine out there. The problem is that it's a difficult engine to rebuild and upgrade inexpensively:
- Zenith carbs, not Webers - non-counter weighted crank - cast cylinders - small 32mm port heads - weaker 3/4R case 70,000 miles is getting long in the tooth for an early 2.2 - valve guide technology wasn't what it is today. As Mark mentioned above, I sold a Euro 3.0 SC with proven leakdown and compression for about $4,300. I'd put his in the $2,000 range for a running engine - you could probably part it for more, but obviously more hassle.
