Interesting and you'right about costs when refurbishing a TT 993 with 144k km.
Sounds like it would be a deal for someone who has the know-how, time and facility to DIY. Still, without a credible written leak-down test, hard to say. I consider leak-down far more important than a compression test. If the body, paint and interior is good, the rest is mechanical and a matter of parts and labor and like you said, do the math. ![]() And yes, the fees and taxes, sigh.......

Lighten up!
I'm just trying to understand how much it would need to make me walk away. I've been watching these cars for over two years in Canada and they are stupid expensive repight now. I'm not saying anyhthing about your decision as i'm sure it was the right one, i'm just writing out loud. Even a high mile 993T at $67k wouls sell quickly if it was made right That's my opinion

Well, if it makes sense to you, go buy it and enjoy.

Ah, the old adage " if it sounds too good to be true.....it isn't"
I "ate" a few PPI's in my search for my tt. Makes sense to generally warn the community that a car has serious issues. Then, if some want to take the plunge anyway, I think a PM, as you've done, and generosity with the other party ( hey, we're all friends here) wrt you PPI sounds reasonable. Good luck with you search Dave.

This is an interesting discussion. I think this car is the perfect candidate for someone who wishes to do some modification. To begin with, it is a great starting price. Refresh the engine, add some bigger turbos, refresh the suspension and brakes, a little paint correction. Voila, you have the car of your dreams.

ok I bought the damn thing, I am thrilled to say the least. I found this site by doing a search of rob on google! Gotta love the internet....
So anyways I am A newbie to 993tt ownership. I have been watching the market for the last two years and they have been slowly climbing, so it seams. When this car came up I figured what the heck its easier to convince my wife to spend 40 instead of 65000. So being the compulsive kind of person I bought it site unseen. Trully a no no,but I own a bodyshop so ah whatever. I would like to buy your report bruni911 if you are ok with that, I am going to get it checked by my mechanic but more info is good Trev |

Trev, you might have a bit more wiggle room than most of us, at least you have a body shop.
All kinds of help on this board, as you've probably already found out. Keep us posted on your progress!!

![]() Like the CanAm posted as a sticky on top of this forum and there are many others every month all summer long. ![]() I recommend to get Streather's 993 Companion book and one great help is the 993 forum on Rennlist, just sign up plus pcarworkshop.com is a must. It's exiting, isn't it?
