Need Left Front Turbo Guard and RS Spoiler

Happened yesterday - 5 days after putting the script on the front bumper!!! A car swerved into my lane and braked hard to miss another idiot, leaving me no room. Interesting that the rear of the Mazda 3 I hit was above my front bumper line - probably because we were both braking hard.

I'm in the market for a left front turbo steel guard, headlight assembly (complete), RS3.0 front spoiler and potentially the front bonnet (if the small fold is too expensive to beat out.)

Anyone got some bits gathering dust? Aiming to be back on road for August track day at Oran Park.

Tim

Just put some black 100mph tape over the damage then it will look like a serious track car.
Sorry about the damage, who got the blame in the end?

The driver of the car I hit and I both got the rego number of the car which caused it by changing lanes without warning. Both done Police reports and they have indicated that the driver will be charged by summons.

The Mazda I hit is insured with AAMI and I am with Shannons - related companies so the process has been simple so far. AAMI have already contacted me and indicated than if they cannot recover from the Idiot driver, their driver looks to be at fault for my damage due to moving into my lane.

I feel sorry for the Mazda driver - she had nowhere to go and if she had not swerved it would have been a much bigger wreck.

You sure it won't buff out?

Bugger, Tim! What a hassle you don't need.

Have you tried Zags for the panels? They're are out near St Marys and they carry a large range of stuff.

Was out at Zags on Friday morning - John and George are great blokes - have used them a couple of times in the past and always been happy.

One of the nice things about Shannons insurance is that you get to choose your repairer - and Shannons know about Zags anyway.

Zags sent the quote off on Friday and they have assured me that it will all be done and back on the road by the next track day. With the whole front being painted I'll also invest in getting one of those Aussie Cossies fitted to the front - black is a bugger at showing those stone chips.

Getting the small holes on each side from the old side skirts filled and painted as well. When this is all done I'll just need the IROC tail and the visual parts of the project will be done.

Well the work is under way and what a sorry sight it is.

The guys say it will be ready for next Saturday, complete with new graphics but no IROC tail yet - didn't arrive in time.

Got new Kuhmo's for the track as well - turns out the old D01J's were 6-8 years old!

Hope it's ready in time Tim. Which Kumhos did you end up with, and where from?

I won't be competing on Saturday, my daughter is off to hospital in the morning & I'm entertaining the little fella a few hours each day this week Z& on the weekend. If we can I'll bring him out to the track, although with the ssi's and new exhaust he says the Porsche is too loud for him (bet he grows out of that soon).

Hope your daughter is OK.

Got the Ecsta V70A from John at FSport - 205/45 K20 (soft) for 7.5" front and 245/45 K60 (medium) for 9" rear.

I was getting too much understeer in slow corners (onto straight at Wakefield) with the old Dunlops, so the softer compound should bight better. With 911's being light in the front the wear should balance - that's what they found with Bill Pye's 911 in Targa last year.

I'll also change the rear sway to the later Carrera bar when I get round to it - but not for this weekend. Last time at Oran Park I was lifting an inside front on the corner before going up over the bridge, so the rear is a little too soft. Could be that was my problem at Wakefield - only one tyre doing the work = understeer.

Sorry to hear about your daughter not being well Marty. Be great if you brought the little fella out to the track

Well on my list of things to do before this superspirnt was new rotors, new pads and new front tyres. I managed to do NONE of them, i've barely had a free moment to fart, let alone tend to the porky.

I will be out there on Saturday though. My car will be understeering badly though, I doubt I will better the time I did around there in May. I have no tread on the front semis

Still looking forward to having a bit of a run though!

How's your car looking Tim? Can't wait to see it.

Spoke to Zag's this afternoon - the are putting it together as we speak - I pick it up tomorrow afternoon.

Should look good - only the IROC tail is missing as it wasn't ready in time.

Good choice of tyres Tim.

Even the Hoosiers don't seem to gain anything on the V70A's up here.

I have been running the K60's all round and next time it's the K20's on the front.

I'll call again today.

Got the car back OK and it looks good.

New Kuhmo's were good but the front WAY too soft - will be lucky to get another track day out of them.

Times were good for me - 1:25.679 on the last lap of the day. I think Nathan struggled with well worn out tyres but still managed a 1:26.241 which is still a PB for a club day.

Sad news is that there is one less Silver 928GTS running - Charles Parkinson put it into the tyre wall to the right of the bridge underpass after turn two. Car is a right mess - driver is OK.

Yeah Tim had a great day!! You should be stoked with a 1:25, well done mate!!

I couldn't go out a final time due to running the risk of a front blowout (Yes it was that bad) my tyre is very worn, down to the canvas infact. It's like driving on a bed of marbles with the violent vibration through the steering wheel.

I struggled with front grip and way too much understeer, as well as the most lap traffic ever encountered at a supersprint.

having said that a 1:26.2 is still a PB for me, so very happy with that! I know with some new rubber (I can't believe my tyres have done 8 superspints now) I will be able to crack into the 1:25's around Oran Park.

I had a great afternoon! I also took an excursion in the morning session to avoid a taxi coming accross onto me as I passed him just before the kink. As a result I had to outbrake myself at the kink and drifted sideways off the track at about 170km/, thankfully no damage and managed to keep two wheels on the ripple strip outa the dirt.

one again, well done tim, and yeah the 928 looks absoltely destroyed, but thank goodness the driver is ok.

Sounds like a great day was had by both of you - PB's all round. What happened to the 928?

What mechanical stuff have you had done to your car since last time Tim?

I was disappointed I couldn't make it, but family first - I'll put a guilt trip on them next time.

On the upside I am going to Classic Adelaide to navigate for a mate in a RS replica in Nov, followed by 2 days at Bathhurst in Dec with trackcorp.

Spoke to Charles after the event - the 928 ran wide at turn two - maybe apexed a little early - and the tail stepped out, over corrected but was on grass by then - straight into tyre wall to right as you pass under the bridge.

Since last time at Oran Park I have changed the fuel distributor. At the dyno day at Bob Whym's they picked up that I was running way too lean at the top end and it turned out to be the US spec fuel distributor - it was expecting all the smoke sensor input but not getting it - it was all disconnected. Changed to an Aus spec one and it like a new car. 4.5 seconds improvement at both Oran Park and Wakefield.

Next Club day is in October - looks like you will be busy after that with all the other stuff as well - lucky boy.

Tim

New tyres also helped at OP.

Hi Guys,
it was another great day at oran park. bit of a hold up between that nissan GTR spilling oil over the track and lunch. it may seem to me that without Ray Fowler there the day was a bit slower, but im sure the club will get use to it.

I just spoke to Charles with the GTS and it seems as it may be repairable,. which is some good news.

Tim the Paint on your car looks fantastic. Have Zag painted the car?

Seems like everyone was getting PB on the day which is great. I really wanted to get into the 1:19s but i missed a few sessions playing around with customers cars. although i did beat my previous time of 1:20.8. i ended up with a 1:20.1. and it seems i have flat spotted the front tyres
Sean
