I kinda agree with tabs. I could rent whatever I want, but I'm happy as a clam in Chevy Cruze or another anonymous car. If I want to go rent a Ferrari, I'll do that...but not while I chilling on vacation. To each their own.

You can rent my 911, cheap, but I'm not sure I can get it 50 miles north to Seattle.

Yes I am toying with getting in on this on the renter side. I have an E21 that I am not too attached to and thinking of getting some cool BMW type of cars. Like a E30 Vert and possibly a E36 M3. I am near West Palm Beach so it may work out well.

It looks like it is doo doo brown, bonus here is it will blend in with the sidewalks and "splashes" will not show up too much.

My wife was pushing towards something like a boxster/cayman, etc..., but the price is just way too high for that sort of thing. Enterprise Exotics in SeaTac has a Jag F-type SVR which I'm sure would be a hoot, but at $350/day, who cares. It's certainly not the sort of thing that I'd rent for a whole week. I don't even want to spend the $1300, but I was thinking that something like a camaro/mustang/challenger (don't need the convertible) would be fun enough without breaking the bank.

You know Steve, we just got back from there yesterday. Rented an econobox at the airport and drove around the Olympic Peninsula, Spent a day in downtown Seattle (never again even if hell freezes over), and over to the Mt. Rainier area. The roads were outdated, not in too good of repair, and crowded with bumper to bumper traffic. I'm talking about everywhere. The only place I didn't have heavy traffic was on 101 coming from Lake Quinault to Port Angeles from almost 9PM to 11PM. Generally everybody drives 45 to 60 mph. The roads to & from Crystal Mountain weren't too bad, but most routes go through small towns with small town traffic. I'd forgotten the roads were corridors cut through heavy forests preventing you from seeing anything (haven't been up there since 1967). My impression is your experience in a nice car will be more comfortable while sitting in traffic. We were bumper to bumper, stop & go from Port Angeles to the Bremerton area. Ugh! YMMV, but that was our experience.

Where is PRACTICALITY in all of this? From this Thread the prevailing sentiment is frivolality, prodigious wastefulness. As said an American disease that is the essence of what the fk has gone wrong with America.
Instead of being prodigal you could put the few bucks saved away for a rainy day. Then you might have a pot to piss in. Last edited by tabs; 08-15-2018 at 12:51 AM.. |

As manny have said, Seattle is a parking lot with no parking. As you move over to the east side, Carnation ( I live there), things loosen up quite a bit and the side roads are a hoot. One of our local exotic dealerships take their future clients out to get the feel of the cars on the roads near my home. I would uber in and out of Seattle and start the rental experience once you get on the east side of the lake and drop it off before you have to back into the city.

Good info, thanks. I'll look into that, but I think if I'm going to go with Silver Car that I may have to get it in Seattle. Maybe there's someplace that I can get a car in Redmond which is fairly near where I'll be staying the second night.
