Sorry to hear of your problems with a couple of members. I enjoy your car postings though. If I remember it right first the MG and now the 914? Look forward to an update.

Damn--I was out of town for a few days and come back to see this. This really sucks--David is one of the most stand-up people anyone could ever hope to meet (and a heck of a smith). Sorry to hear this--and another "Thank You" for the work you did on my Ithaca/SKB (and for the biscuits and gravy!)

No good will come of what you are asking for.
If he didn't want to out them he shouldn't of mentioned them.

This thread is sorta like landing by straddling an object between your legs.

Much better to land on your feet.

Nothing but toxicity will result from this approach of hints.

Either lock it, or bring it to light.

I am ashamed to admit that I am one of the reasons for this happening. I have sent a message to David and am hoping to resolve this to his satisfaction.

I could make a list of excuses as to why, but in the end, my actions were not backed up by my words. And that is what we are judged on in life and my broken promises will be my burden to bear.

I can only apologize to any member that is inconvenienced by the fact that my actions is one of the reasons that David had to make this decision.

Good on you for stepping up Neil.

I know you suffered a great tragedy recently, I couldn't imagine going through something like that. Not trying to make excuses for you, but "turning the corner" to make amends is all part of the healing process and this is a good step. All the best to you!

Well I must say that my faith in humanity and respect for Neil as made a huge comeback. I was determined that not outing him and embarrassing him was the right thing to do. We have spoken and all will be rectified and all will be forgiven. Neils tragedy was what let me let it go on so long, not wanting to add to his troubles. I'm glad we were able to make this right. We are still friends. All is well that ends well.

Sold the MG...my son found me this..in super shape. I had to redo the interior and the normal stuff like all the seals in the trans, clutch etc. Having fun with it this summer. I may pull the engine in late fall for a winter rebuild and mild build. Thanks for asking.

There is no better man on this forum my friend and I feel for you and respect your decision. But in the same breath I will say, don't let the failures of others diminish your spirit and good nature. Don't let them take that from you or diminish it in any way.

There are plenty of bad people in the world and the only way to keep them down is to stay true to yourself. I urge you to continue doing what you love for forum members here, simply set conditions so you will never lose again. 50% deposit, full payment before you ship. Or full payment when you start work and when you finish, you ship. If those terms aren't amenable, that is a customer you don't need. Simple.

I read this thread with great trepidation because I purchased a beautiful vintage Winchester 101 (pigeon grade) through David in what was certainly not a worry-free transaction, owing to my inexperience with shotguns and online transactions. As it turns out David connected me with one of the iconic shotguns of the trap world, which gets me compliments every time I show up to my local trap range (which is all to infrequently).

If I am one to have given insult to David, I will make good on my debt and whoever else it was who broke trust with Targa Dude. And if it wasn’t me who caused the problem, I’m happy to make good on both shortfalls to keep Dave happily working with Pelicanites the the extent that he has the tile and inclination.
