Trimmer, Edger......
Search that on Amazon and 9000 results come back. Help me narrow it down to one.
I'll go battery powered if they're up to the task. I don't need anything crazy industrial level, but I'm not interested in junk. Budget is ~ $200 What say ye?

Ryobi One from Home Depot. Same battery for hedge trimmer and leaf blower, you'll always be fully charged.

Loved my WORX!
20V converts from edger to trimmer, lots of power.

Same here.
I just bought this for my Echo, to do edging. I haven't tried it out yet..but I like the idea of having a stabile point for the trimmer. https://www.amazon.com/Edging-Straight-Trimmers-EXCEPT-Number/dp/B004FEGPIS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1534616257&sr=8-1&keywords=echo+edgit+pro

I purchased an Echo hand-held 58v blower for dad...got one for myself too later. Just toy blowers imo.....wouldn't consider anything but 2-cycle for a trimmer....I've had a Stihl FS80 for years....simply a beast and will last me forever. A REAL trimmer is not much more than battery power....they still gonna be strong in 10 years? Love the balance, power, everything about my FS80...nuthin' wrong with Echo 2-cycle stuff either

I purchased a Honda 4 cycle over 10 years ago. still running strong. Over the budget you posted... but will probably outlast 2 or 3 of those cheaper units.

I have a Ryobi 40 volt, purchased about 2 years ago. I live on a typical Florida 1/4 acre tract home property.
It trims, edges, and I also have a blower to clean up. I have 2 batteries, one will do all 3 duties on a full charge. I have a second in case my wife forgets to recharge when done, which has happened. https://www.amazon.com/40-Volt-Lithium-Ion-Cordless-Trimmer-Sweeper/dp/B01M4G4YMK/ref=sr_1_10?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1534623035&sr=1-10&keywords=ryobi+weed+eater+with+battery+and+charger

I still have a Shindaiwa Commercial (Blue 230) string trimmer from 15 years ago...almost 20 years.
It'll take a blade. Had to buy a new gas tank recently...thank you CA MTBE. Couldn't buy just the tank, had to buy all of the hoses, etc. About $40. It's a powerful rig. I wind it with 1/32" wire cable...nothing stops it. 2 stokes must be maintained diligently...as many have posted.

Yeah, they're great. My next one, if ever needed.

I run the gas that's available, but empty the tank and run it dry. Only thing I can do.

Skip the Home Depot junk and get a Stihl FSE 60. Superior in every way.

With 3 acres, I need my gas powered John Deere, BUT:
My wife can't start it and wanted something battery powered for the light duty jobs. Blower/trimmer for under $100 and works fine: Comes with 2 batteries and will easily go 30 minutes per battery on a charges. Blower is also a light duty backup to my 2 stroke one.

Their sawzall is sloppy but works great on PVC sprinkler repair, I have dad's old corded craftsmen jigsaw for fine work. The circular saw is weak but does a good job on plywood, I have a corded Makita for 2x4 and a screw drive Milwaukee that is a boat anchor so I never use it. The 1/2 drill that cam with the kit is great, and a 18v flashlight came with the kit. Sure Ryobi is not professional grade but I'm just a weekend warrior and do light stuff around the house and not going to spend big $$$

Are they starting to phase out 2 stroke mowers in the USA?, in OZ some of the major suppliers are going 4 stroke over 2 stroke.
