Rebuilding brake calipers on the Euro RC15.

So far so good. Used my ultrasonic cleaner and it did a great job helping me clean them up!

Got a stubborn piston to work on tomorrow.....

YSR 80. 400kms. We bought it many years ago from a museum. Brought it to the shop last year, got it serviced and running great. Took it for a rip. Now it sits in our reception area. I think this spring I may put a few more KMs on it.....

LOL Baz, I did see that one and was going to point it out to you. At least I am not the only one who looks all over the web for bikes I don't need.

My excuse is I have a sickness.

Quick story.......

When my interest went towards possibly getting a 356, I subscribed to the 356 Registry to become more informed of the model. This was back when it was list-serve, so we got emails everyday about all kinds of topics.

There was this one guy (IIRC his name was Lee) who routinely posted cars for sale, along with a couple personal observations.

Well very early this one morning he posted about one located in South Florida. His comment was something to the effect "This one looks good".

Long story short it was an eBay auction that was initiated in the early morning hours and had no bids yet. It had a BIN figure not too much higher than the starting bid. Hmmm....

And that is how I got my first 356.

No phone call or other communication with the seller. Just looked a few photos and a brief description. Then hit the BIN....before someone else got her! Turned out to be a hell of a score.

So I'm just paying it forward here....

Baz, definitely not a sickness, more of a sport. Hunting down motorcycles and then you hunt for the parts to fix them.

Well, was finally able to take the RC15 that I purchased last Thanksgiving for a spin around the block on Thursday.

Ran really well although I didn't go past 3rd gear. Still some carb tuning needed but starts right up and idles & revs well enough for now.

I have to go to the tag office and get her titled and registered before taking her out again.

I bought the bike from the original owner who lives in Daytona. He bought it in Germany and raced it for one year in AMA. It was in very good condition when I bought it, although hadn't been run in a fear years, so I had to go though and restore all hydraulics and fuel system. I replaced the fuel tank with one from eBay. Rebuilt the carbs, brake and clutch master cylinders, slave cylinders, replaced the front brake lines, rebuilt all 3 brake calipers, and replaced the faulty fuel pump.

I will be replacing the turn signals and maybe new tires as well and some minor cosmetics as needed. I still want to put the original fuel tank back on at some point but have to finish cleaning it. And also adjust the valves, I guess.

Some photos......

Finally got title and tags for the Euro RC15.....and the RC26 I bought from Kenny Kaplan.

Couldn't get them for the one coming from SC until it gets here and I get a VIN verification. It got picked up today so will probably get here tomorrow. Wait till you guys see this one!

Here's the Euro RC15.....complete with new tag!
