Sold my Janus Halcyon 250 and picked up a 2024 Royal Enfield Bullet 350. I really wanted the Janus to be a great around town and back roads cruiser. Unfortunately, a hardtail motorcycle is not the bike to have on our pothole filled city streets. So far I am really enjoying the Bullet. It takes me back to my younger days when I had a small displacement motorcycle and went everywhere exploring. A few years back I had a Bullet 500. I would say Royal Enfield has really stepped up their game in the quality of their bikes.

Congrats, Kurt....what a beauty!
Also, I can relate about the smaller displacement bike. Since I got that VF500F....I've been wondering why I need all the others!

Similar experience with a Halcyon 250. But not so much the hard tail on this end. Just a bit too anemic and light for modern roads in my opinion. Sold mine after less than a year. Good eye candy but not such a good bike to ride.

Another nice condition RC36 on B.a.T.!
The 7 day 'no reserve' auction just started with no bids so far. Let's see what this baby brings! FYI: I see carb. was work done a year ago to the tune of $560.95. Also the selling party is a dealer but no dealer fees. Great looking machine! https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1991-honda-vfr750f-interceptor-2/

It is pretty amazing how they have transformed in the past 10 years. They went from building bikes based on a 1950s design to thoroughly modern bikes, while maintaining the look. I have a 2022 Interceptor, its a keeper. Very easy to work on, parts are cheap and readily available. I recently bumped the front sprocket up 1 tooth, and its quite comfortable at 75mph on the freeway as well. Just turned over 6k miles, zero issues.

Head's up peeps......just posted on CL 16 hours ago:
1986 Honda VFR750 Interceptor - $4,500 (Atascadero) - 34.6K miles This is in California near SLO. From the ad: This is a somewhat rare 1986 Honda 750 Interceptor, quantities were limited due to the US tariffs on motorcycle 750cc and above, this was to keep Harley alive. This bike runs well, and looks great for an almost 40 yo bike. It is not perfect but it is very close, minor age related fairing cracks and scuffs. You can see the only dent right behind the filler cap. Some upgrades have been made including a rare Kerker 4-1 exhaust. Tires are good, wheels have been re-powdercoated, new wheel bearings, seals, sprockets, chain. No rust in the tank. I have the Honda Service manual. Registered until 05/25. ============= My comments: This is one of the most highly regarded of all the 2nd Gen Interceptors. From what I'm seeing on B.a.T. this is not an unreasonable selling price for an example in this condition. It's possible you could get her for a little less, but regardless you'd get your money back if you ever decided to re-sell, IMHO. 15 pics on the ad, including this one:

Sold for $4,700 on 8/16/24 ![]() =================== I own two 1987 BLUE VFR700F Interceptors. I bought them in 2018 & 2019. One of them was and still is in running condition. I have done some work on it since ownership. It is not a concours bike - just a driver, for now. The other one came as a non-runner with a buggered gas cap, which prevented re-fueling. After some unsuccessful attempts at a repair of said gas cap, I got busy with other projects/bikes and stored her away under a tarp in a covered storage area in my side yard. Yesterday.....5 years later.......I decided it was time. I aired up her tires and had to remove the front brake calipers to get her to roll out on my drive so I could hose her off. I later removed the rear brake caliper. Also the gas tank and was able to get the cap off, finally. This morning I spent cleaning up my service bay so I can roll her up on the lift table to begin restoration work. My primary goal is to get her running again - not too concerned with aesthetics this trip around. That can come later, unless I sell her as a driver. These 2nd Generation Interceptors ('86 & '87 VFR700F) hold a special place in my heart, so naturally I'm excited to finally start work on this one after 5 long years. IIRC, I paid around $900 and it was only an hour's drive away so was able to trailer her home. She is titled in my name but the registration has lapsed. After cleaning up the service bay I flushed the gas tank out with water. It didn't look too bad inside, really. I have a replacement gas cap assembly & key for it I bought off eBay several years back. Glad I could salvage the tank as it's in quite good condition. The one on my other Blue bike has a lot of dents in it....lol. I will get her up on my lift later today. Then work begins. Brakes, fuel system, clutch, and engine. I must say though - in these past 5 years I've gained a lot of experience in what to do and how to do it so shouldn't be a big deal at all. Which will make it all the more enjoyable! Didn't come with the side fairings but does have the upper infills. I have a pair of the missing fairings for her. Came with owner's manual and tool kit. Has those front blinkers that are flush with the fairing and rears are crappy aftermarkets. Bike was (supposedly) in running condition when the fuel tank cap got messed up, according to the seller. Bike shows 67,931 miles. I also have a set of rebuilt and synced carbs for her sitting on a shelf in my home. Safe riding all! ![]()

That sounds like a very cool project, Baz, and it also sounds like you're halfway done with it already too.
Keep us posted as there are some of us that live vicariously thru threads like this. BTW, I sent the link to the one in Atascadero to my brother saying he should buy it and put it away. I'd want to ride it if I went up to visit him. He's more into non-running projects though so won't even acknowledge my email about it.

On this one I'm working on......it will take a while to get done what's needed, so don't hold your breath. Got her up on my lift yesterday and today was able to remove some stuff. Hopefully by end of week, assuming I have the parts I need, I will have the hydraulic stuff all rebuilt. I'll check my spares tomorrow morning and order what I don't have. Obviously, I also need to go over entire bike and clean/detail as much as possible while I have this stuff removed. So far so good.... This is where the Yoshimura muffler label used to be at one time:

Found almost everything I need in my generous assortment of spares.
A lot of these items I had acquired in anticipation of my Yellow bike restoration but guess I will use them for the Blue bike instead...as fate would have it... ![]() Check out this complete set of brake calipers in VG condition! Even the brake pads are in great condition. Tomorrow I will pop out the pistons and begin the cleaning process. I blasted out the inside of the fuel tank tonight and then dumped a gallon of Evaporust in it. We have a 3day weekend coming up and I hope to use it to go over the cosmetics of the entire bike which has to be done before reattaching all these components. The replacement fuel tank cap and lock..... I bought this rear brake assembly from eBay and will use it to pop out the pistons on my brake calipers and clutch slave cylinder. Need to mount it to something first. Hydraulic pressure is the way to go on this job. You can do it also before removing the calipers but not if your master cylinders aren't working or in my case I'm using different set of calipers.

Brand new B.a.T. auction just started for this '86 VF500F in VERY good condition w/only 6K miles!
Located in Upper Arlington, Ohio. I've seen some very generous sales of this particular model on B.a.T. so will be interesting to see what we end up with for the sale. Love the first bid of $1,986! https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1986-honda-vf500f-interceptor/

I picked up my bike (BMW R1250RS) from the shop today after getting new tires and servicing. While I was there, I saw this little baby - a BMW G310GS. I used to have a G310 and I miss having a little bike. I'm thinking about it.....

Progress report......
Completed rebuilds: Rear brake MC & caliper, Front brake MC and calipers, Clutch MC and slave. Brake work is nasty! But holding a rebuilt brake caliper in your hand and knowing it is going to work so smoothly and properly is not a bad trade off! Pulled the carbs this morning. Nice rebuildable set, thankfully. Now I have to work on making the bike look prettier! ![]()

Change in plans.
I've decided just to get her running and sell her. I'll swap the fuel tank with my other Blue RC26, though. Re-assessing how I want to spend my time going forward. I hope when I sell her she'll go to someone who can put the time and money into her to bring her back to her glory.
