My son’s new bike that he got for Christmas... I think he liked it.

This is his 3rd bike and by far the most powerful.

That looks exciting ! Is that a 65cc ? What was his previous bike?

I'm in the planning stages of of my son's motorcycle journey. He's on a pw50 now and I just picked up an xr50 as step 2 but I'm thinking he will need more shortly.

Yes a KX65.

His progression has been Chinese 50cc 2 stroke quad from the Easter bunny at 4. He mastered that thing in no time and I repaired it constantly.

Honda CRF50F - good Japanese made bike.

Honda CRF110F - Chinese made Honda that has had some minor issues. I got it cheap needing a timing chain so it had a rattle. The starter doesn’t work now.

Kawasaki KX65 - this thing seems pretty good.

The CRF110 is 7HP, the Kawasaki is 17HP and is a race bike. He absolutely loves it although he has only really ridden in on our road and on a track in our field where I cleared snow. I’ve ridden it and it rips.

He also rides our Honda Rancher quad but I’ve had to have him dial it back a few notches. He makes me nervous on that thing. If he flipped it, it could be game changing for him. We also have a Chinese 90 quad that he has ridden for a couple years but it’s perpetually broken and I’m not fixing it again.

He doesn’t want to race MX and I will build him a MX track on our farm for us to ride on. He loves trail riding - we have gone to the mountains to ride a few times over the past year and he likes it a lot. The KX might be a bit much for that (much like my CRF450X) but it’s still fun to get out and ride somewhere other than at our place.

I've had one motorcycle or another for most of my adult life. This is my last bike - an R1100RT. I was never a "live to ride" kind of guy. I liked riding but it wasn't my life. I was out one night and almost got hit by a deer. A week or so later I was on my way home from work, came over a rise, and almost ran into a herd of cows on the road. I had enough close calls to decide I no longer liked riding enough to risk broken bones or whatever. Got a BMW Z-3 and it was way better. Real wind in your hair, out in the open motoring without a helmet and ballistic suit. Sold the bike and never looked back.

That's a great collection!

We had upper 40 degrees out and mostly dry so it was prime time for my longest spin yet on my Brother's Interceptor.

She is now running perfectly, still wearing in the new tires and there's still sand looking to do damage in places on the roads so I took a very easy 20 mile R/T up the local curvy 2 lane.

Came across this shot my Brother took back in '84 or 85' taken up near Mt Baker with my best buddy from high school and his Nighthawk I believe.

That Interceptor takes me back. I rode a 500 for a short while. Later a VF1000. Just picked up a favorite 80s bike myself. Lost about 12lbs to get down to my old race weight.

Perhaps a glutton for punishment but just bought this. Wanted a tourer to complement the R9T. But couldn’t bring myself to buy another HD. Perhaps went a bit far off the “unique” end of the scale but man, the Italians can design a bike, eh?

GF's Honda pcx150 A great bike. She used to commute across town each day and spent $3 a week on fuel.

One of the best-looking bikes out there. Pictures don't do them justice, imo.

My BIL had some recall work done on his BMW R1200 GS up north of us, he rarely asks for any help so I gladly drove him up to get his bike...
There were some ulterior motives too- the dealership he had work done at also has a pretty full line of Zero's, the American electric bikes, not the Japanese aircraft.

Took both of these out for a test ride:
2021 FX
2021 DSR

It only took a little getting used to, no clutch, no shifter on the left side and just roll off the throttle to slow down, my left hand was not sure what to do, flailed at where a clutch lever should be a time or two...

Gotta say I'm very impressed, I still wish for more range.

The FX is mostly dirt, but street legal. 289 lbs, 78 ft lbs of torque and 46 hp for the 7.2 kW capacity version.
Good gravy that thing is a hoot even in "eco" mode and about half power.
Handling was stellar and I certainly see how an inner hooligan would be freed up instantly in sport mode.

Downside is range, 91 miles to a charge city, 39 on the highway.
That torque, light weight and handling would be terrific in the dirt with better knobs and they recommend going to chain drive rather than the belt if you and going to play in the sand or mud.

The DSR has 116 ft lbs of torque and 70 HP, weighs in at 443 lbs. It's range is 204 city, 97 highway for the 14.4 kW capacity, you have to add the "power tank" for that range.
Handling on it seemed like it wanted to "fall" into corners at low speeds but pretty neutral at speed.
DSR is "on sale" for $14,511, the FX $10,999, both about $1K off MSRP.

I do love the sounds and visceral feel of gas powered bikes!
I can sure see the allure of these bikes, lots of shenanigans without advertising it with sounds, as close to no maintenance as you can get, no warm up... hop on, turn the key and whir off quietly.

Hmmm... once my Nephew takes possession of the Interceptor and my son decides the fate of the 71 Bonneville there will be open space in the garage again.
And I have outlets in handy places.
Average recharge cost is 81 cents for the FX and 161 cents for the DSR.

I was really looking for a Ducati, but found this R1100s nearby, should be safer than the Duc for now.

Like I said upstream, I'm anticipating picking up a new bike on Friday. Hopefully everything will work out. I'll explain later.

For now here's a pic of the new ramps I bought from HF. On sale only $50. I'm going to bolt them together to give me a wider track. Of course I will secure these underneath to my hitch brackets so they don't slid backwards on me. I also have one of those elongated work platforms I will bring to assist in the process. I also bought a new set of ratchet straps.
