Spent the last several days tooling around the Smoky Mountains with my wife on my old trusty Honda 1986 VF500 Interceptor. A bit cool in the mornings but it was fun even with the wife riding on back.

BOTH are great looking bikes!

Love those graphics over the white paint on the VTR! Looks to be in excellent condition too!

This place in up in your next of the woods and might be worth a visit sometime:

Decided to go ahead and get the HF lift table today.

After paying for it inside they sent me around back for pickup.

Kept asking if I had a suitable vehicle - because it's large and heavy.

Well it's a Silverado with an empty 8' bed w/bed liner.

Can't get much better than that - although I did briefly consider taking the Volvo wagon...

The store manager did the loading with their forklift. I made a couple suggestions on how to position everything and afterwards he told me thanks - he learned a new technique he hadn't thought of. It really wasn't that big of a deal but glad it helped.

I told him I ran a 4K foot warehouse for 10 years and did a LOT of material loading and unloading with our forklift!

I will try to get it put together and into place tomorrow......

Unpacked and unloaded the lift table this morning and will have it in place by tomorrow. They already had the caster wheels bolted on. Little tricky sliding it off the truck by myself but I managed to handle it....lol.

I think this is going to be a game changer for me......

Nice Baz...you will be saving a lot of back pain, and make sure you wind the hell out of that VFR when riding, they really come alive in that mid-upper rpm range.

It's in case you need to to access the hydraulics without reaching underneath...so for safety purposes.

My Nephew gave me his old HF lift, it sort of worked when in the mood. i finally cut the old jack out and installed a HF air over.

Works great and is a very simple job.
I wish I had done it way way sooner as it is a lot of knee action to raise a full-grown Harley up!
This air over takes about 30 seconds!

Delete this

and install this, pretty simple -a nice air over hydraulic action.

Baz, I believe that removable plate in the rear is for being able to remove the rear wheel of your motorcycle. on most motorcycles, once you pull the axle, you need to drop the wheel down some to get past the rear fender. You should have a cover plate to place there when you are running the bike up on the lift. Leave the plate in place if you’re not going to drop your rear wheel.

Pretty nifty, AB! I like how you also plumbed up extra air outlets!

Hi Kurt - thanks - that makes sense. Still learning about some of this stuff and appreciate everyone's comments here!

Love the VFR-series. Here is a friend’s VFR400. Did several laps on it on the TT circuit on the Isle of Man. I recall it being noisy and having a high redline.

Also attached are two shots of a Kawasaki quintuple I saw on the Promenade. Crazy place.

Question for anyone with input....regarding cleaning out one of my older bike's fuel tank.

I dumped out the old fuel, flushed out the tank with water, emptied, and refilled with vinegar. The old fuel was non-ethanol from earlier this year and the inside of the tank doesn't look too bad but I am trying to do what I can to make sure she's clean before re-installed newly rebuilt carbs.

After I dump out the vinegar, then a rinse with distilled water and baking soda, what would be your next step? I was going to pour in a mixture of a pint or two of fresh fuel with a couple ounces of mower oil to coat the inside to mitigate flash rusting.

I expect to have the carbs back in and tank back on in a day or two.

What do you guys think?
