Wow! Congratulations on the new bike, it looks amazing! Certainly has a great purpose-built look and feel to it, like a modern day very upscale gentleman's racer. Or something like that.

There were 7 of us, 2 KTM GTs, 2 BMW GSAs, 1 BMW RS, 1 Ducati Multistrada Pikes Peak and 1 KTM 790. All great riders and great company. Fun trip. Next month trailering to Oregon to do the Washington State BDR. Can't wait!

Must have been a blast. Why did I think this was in July. And it wouldn't matter anyway, soonest I can make it out to Seattle is September now.

Know the feeling about pics. Wish I had gotten a gopro for my trip across country.

Hey Shaun, there is a July trip. I leave for that in a few weeks. That will be on the KTM and mostly dirt. Then I come home, relax for a bit then the wife and I along with 2 other couples are doing a 14 day ride up to Glacier National Park and back in mid September.....So many roads, so little time. 😉

I'm trying to squeeze in a break in ride up to Monterey and back on the new bike before I take off in July, but we'll see.

Ran over tonight just before we got hit by a rain storm. Took the edge off the temperature and now I got this work done so can do other stuff tomorrow.

At one point I had all 3 going, except the Red RC36. Reminded me of what we referred to in legendary 3 piece rock bands...James Gang, Rush, Hendrix, Cream, etc. etc.....

BTW.....of all 11 of my Interceptors.......the only one with an HRC sticker is the old Blue girl......on it when I acquired her......

Baz, if you were to rent a larger space and spruce it up with some nice paint and lighting, you would have your own Interceptor museum and charge for a personal tour.

May of 2015 my Son made a run to Portland and came home with most of a 1971 Triumph Trophy that had more than it's share of mods.
Tank and side coves were good, fenders were horrendous and got replaced then all of it painted at a shop that's walking distance away.
Son and I decided on more of a Bonneville look rather than the high piped Trophy it was born as, glad we did!

It's been a long but fun project... found a used 750 motor, fitted it fought and fought to get it started with multiple compression starting runs down the hill next to us.
That also entailed multiple Father/Son pushes back up the hill, good times.

It finally fired up and ran for a glorious 2 minute before grinding it's self to a halt and not turning over smoothly.

Found a 66' 650 recently rebuilt. Popped it in and it runs great, good torque for a 650, cackles and pops at all the right times.

Pulled it all back apart leaving the motor and replaced the harness with a brand new one, changed from positive to negative ground as God intended and replaced the points, Zanier diode thingie and regulator with electronic versions.

Very comfortable seating, a good bit on the vibrating side and it handles superb for a 53 year old machine and a 58 year old motor.
The double shoe front hub looks cool but demands a serious squeeze to come close to locking.
My 83 Interceptor can lock the front tire with two fingers.

1984 Honda Interceptor VF750F - $1,000 (Boerum Hill) on CL - posted 3 days ago

(I think this is in Brooklyn, New York)

Might be a good deal for someone interested in a 1st Gen Interceptor. Sounds like a carb cleaning would solve the issue.

==================

Probably the most beautiful motorcycle to come out of the 1980s. This bike has been well loved over the last 30 years. 32,337 miles.

Sold as-is. The bike will generally start with enough patience but is not easily rideable. It has an inconsistent idle and stalls under many throttle conditions. Most likely just needs a carb cleaning/tuning. It also was knocked over while parked recently: the right brake lever is bent and the right mirror is missing (see pic).

Otherwise this is a special bike. When it is running properly it an amazing ride. The previous owner took terrific care of the bike and told me it was a rare example of an 84 VF750F that does not have any valve issues.

This bike is quite a steal at this price, so it's not negotiable. I recommend having a plan for moving the bike that is not riding it.

There are two bikes ready for pick up in the impound yard that serves Death Valley,
Let's go for a ride in the hottest part of a 128 degree day in the middle of nowhere cuz were tough.
R.I.P. boys, you proved your point.

Due to the high temperatures, emergency medical flight helicopters were unable to respond, as they generally cannot fly safely over 120 degrees, according to Death Valley.
Quote:
Once a heat index of 99 degrees is exceeded, ambient air no longer helps provide relief, Death Valley officials added. And because the group was traveling by motorcycle, they were not able to cool down while riding due to high ambient air temperatures and because of the necessary heavy safety gear worn to reduce injuries in the event of an accident.
