Amazing recovery to roll it backwards into the box.

Brad is smarter than he looks.

Smart or lucky, either one works ;)

Just in case anyone is interested in some actual technical stuff, like a technical director discussing the aero philosophy of their current car on TV, which basically never happens...

NASCAR really runs Mustang bodied cars?
I haven't watched in awhile.

Four door models are in the top tier, two door models are in the second tier.

Second tier is Supra, Camaro, Mustang.

I'm not sure what is in the top teir.

Fusion, Camry, not sure on chevy.

I watch smaller racing series these days with less corporate interference in what gets said.

Wait, top tier? Second tier. Yesterday was Talladega which I would assume is a top tier race. Did it with mustangs and cameros

This is brilliant, thanks for the link. He gives a hint of how complex an aero problem they have to solve within the constraints of the rules. I did not realize they might have new front wings for every race; that pace of development is incredible.

I also found it interesting that the coordinate system is the same as is used in many aircraft designs.

Sponsor names of the tiers change.

Multiple tiers can race at the same track on the same weekend.

As I mentioned, big corporate clampdown caused me to lose interest.

I believe top tier is Monster Energy.

Second tier is some company with an orange logo.

Then below that is a series that has two different championships, east and west, sponsored by K&N.

Then there are lots of other NASCAR series, including NASCAR Mexico(Which is very entertaining). NASCAR Europe(Not very interesting, aside from getting to see big V8's run Spaw.)

Mark my words, Mercedes are going to run a perfect season. 1-2 finishes every race.

I think Spain may test this theory. The "serious" upgrades begin there.

Did Toto hack your account. This is assuming Mercedes are not developing and everyone else is.

Ferrari had an entire season prior to develop a car to beat Merc, hell, they can start right now on next year and they STILL will not have a contender.

Furthermore, we still do not even know if Merc is actually pushing their cars. They can still be sandbagging with some engine power in reserve.

I do not believe that Ferrari have more HP than Merc, I think there is more at play here.

I honestly think Merc is running more downforce, because they can. I also think they are dialed back because they do not need it.

I bet they laughed every day in the preseason after a day of testing watching the Red cars trying so hard, knowing they had nothing.

I'm a Ferrari fan, and I'm tired of watching the Mercedes domination. With that said, I agree with everything you've written. Other than the race in which Leclerc ran away with it until his car failed him, Mercedes has been able to answer every charge Ferrari has made at them during the race. Ferrari has occasionally closed to within nearly a second of a Mercedes, then the Mercedes has just gotten with the program and walked away at will.

The mid season improvements will happen with Mercedes too, so I see no closing of the gap as a result.

It's a one horse show right now. Ferrari are not true contenders it seems.

Had a great weekend view vintage racing my 912, didn’t even care that all of the practices and qualifying recorded but the race didn’t. Get out there and do more!

Mercedes tend to develop better than any other team, how anyone can think anyone is catching them through development is beyond me, then again we can hope.

Qauly now takes me 5 mins to watch on my DVR

The race takes 15-20 minutes. My weekend of watching F1 has been reduced to morning coffee.

:D OTOH, I've got to admit that Indycar put on a heck of a show on the Indy GP circuit yesterday. Some great racing.

javadog 05-12-2019 07:18 AM

Outstanding.

Sad when the most exciting part of the race was the restart after the safety car laps...and even that was orchestrated by letting the back-markers pass the safety car so the 'real' race cars could resume their parade.
PS - the restart did not result in any position changes ??????
yawn
Roman did not fail to disappoint.
