That was a decent race with a lot of mid pack passing . Heck of a race for Albon . Grosean the human target/road block didn't disappoint why did Haas extend his contract ? 😡 Magnuson finally scores some points , good race for McLaren also . Hulkenberg fighting for his career looked decent . On to the next race 😁

Ferrari has the strongest car. Mercedes is right there to capitalize on any mistakes, strategy errors, or bad luck that Ferrari experiences.

Don’t agree Grojean is only to blame for the three cars trying to fit into the space of one incident. Odd race with the whole Ferrari “agreement” and then LeClercs inability to pass Bottas. Congrats to Mercedes for the 1-2.

Team strategy set before the race is only a plan..... Want to hear God laugh? Tell him your plan Ferrari brain trust needs to step away from the LSD.

The real reason Mercedes is so far ahead and Hamilton in particular, he has not had a DNF in over 36 races. 36! He finishes all the races. The very old adage, to finish first, first you must finish is 100% accurate. Ferrari can't do it. Almost no other team in the top tier teams can do that.

It's amazing how Ferrari can shoot themselves in the foot... In a different world there is no pre-race agreement, maybe hamilton challenges Leclerc with the tow but Vettel probably gets in the mix so likely Leclerc stays inside and probably stays ahead - if not, no biggie, it's racing and he gets his head down... Then when vettel's engine goes, Leclerc is not impacted and likely wins the race, bells ring in maranello, etc.. But nooooo.... They have to outsmart themselves with some weird arrangement, and multi-21 themselves, piss off their superstar in the making, all for nothing and give HAM the win to boot... It's pretty funny. Especially with VEttel's historical record on "arrangements" - jsut ask Mark Weber !
Changes nothing, Mercedes has both WCs wrapped up, but it's kinda sad. Never change, Ferrari, never change. What a mess... |

Now if Ferrari had not had team orders, how would Leclerc have started differently? Would he have tried to cut them all off to maintain first? It seems like Sochi is one of those tracks where P1 is not the best starting position, so what is the optimum driver and team strategies for starting there?

On a different topic, do you think Williams will survive much longer as an F1 team ? Should it, even ?
Last race they retired Kubica because they didn't have enough spares for Japan. Williams !!! The drivers are saying nothing but hinting there's deep issues (lack of $$) in the team. They're dead last despite a good engine, nowhere near fighting other Mercedes customers, top engineers/managers have left or been dismissed, I can't imagine them still being in F1 in 2021, maybe not even next year... (and I still don't understand how Maldonado scored that one win, otherwise it'd be even longer since the good old days). I'm curious how Robert might have done in a decent car, his team mate by all accounts is very good - but you cannot tell in a car 2.5 sec slow... Apparently KUB is going to HAAS as a test driver and hopefully to help solve their engineering/development woes. |
