Not much excitement, unless your car number is a multiple of 5.

Since I posted early in the race, I did not want to reveal the particular car. Now that the race is over, Vettel discovered that COTA can bite hard.

Congrats to team Mercedes, a perfect day really.

That was quite a comprehensive suspension failure.

Yeah, I don't recall one like that without a collision in a few years.

On another point, WTF happened to Ferrari? Did they fix their oil leak?

He didn't seem to be competitive from the start, so I wonder if something was out-of-whack from the jump. The fact that COTA has gotten embarrassingly bumpy probably didn't help matters.
I believe they will be resurfacing it over the winter, but not sure that is going to be any sort of permanent fix (underlying ground/soil issues).

I think it was because Seb hammered the car on the kerbs. That appeared to be when the failure occurred. No idea if it initiated somewhere else.

That place is a bankruptcy waiting to happen. They spent far too much money on it and it’s not sustainable. Enjoy the racing there while it lasts, it won’t be forever.

I'm almost certain I saw Vettel's car take a bump on the right rear just after the start, I remember being surprised when he said on his radio, that he hadn't hit anything but was experiencing a problem with the car.

I could be wrong.

In the end, it is real obvious only another Mercedes driver is a challenger to Hamilton. The have a car that is clearly the best. They have the clearly best stratigies for the race. One fact they mentioned is in the last 60+ races, Hamilton has scored points every time except once!. Ferrari rarely has two cars finish a race.

I do have to admit some of the reasons he finishes is he is not another Crashtappen or either of the Haas drivers, or even Vettle. He simply does not drive off the course and into the wall in the race.

The old adage is unarguably true, to finish first, first you must finish. Hamilton finishes virtually every race. Yep, he has the best car but it is not just the car, and I am NOT a big Hamilton fan.

Suddenly, Ferrari does not qualify well and LeClerc is 50 seconds off the pace of the frontrunners.

After making a clear step forward in performance as the season has developed, Ferrari came crashing back down to their form of old, getting swamped at the start with Leclerc ultimately finishing nowhere near the leaders.

Was it simply an off day? Or has all this talk around an FIA investigation into their power unit caused Ferrari to change their methods that were essential for their turnaround?

“You get that when you stop cheating,” was Max Verstappen’s blunt assessment, but it seems our readers are taking on board other explanations before jumping to the same conclusion as Max.

Binotto said Leclerc was on a STEP 2 engine, not the latest step 3. Also, clearly they had tire issues early on. Let's wait and see in Brazil ? I think Ferrari at this point is more interested in testing solutions for 2020 than one more victory...

Max needs to grow the f up, if he wants to be taken seriously long term.

He's my new least favorite driver.

Unfortunately, the grown the f up version of Max is.... Jos.
