We have an old Heywood-Wakefield piece of cabinetry that my wife insists on putting plants on and watering said plants too.

Stuff happens. So, I get to fix it. Right now I haven't done anything other than rub the top with some Howard's Restorer stuff that says it doesn't remove the original finish. The top is fairly smooth now after a good rubbing with 0000 steel wool. It still looks like it has patina though. She doesn't want it 'shiny' but would like it smooth to the touch. Any suggestions would be welcome. I'd like to take my little Mega Mouse sander to it and get it down to bare wood on the top only and put some new finish of some sort on it. Not shiny but a satin look. I really love the look of this piece. It is usually filled with her Christmas china and Waterford collection.

A little maintenance on the Toyota pickup. Had a little scare off the beaten track a couple of weeks ago so time for a new starter, a couple of new relays in the spares box and a new, 70 amp alternator to replace the original (60 amps, 170000 miles.) Plus a new idler pulley bearing that was starting to tell me all about its hard, grueling existence in a whiney, screechy way.

(Edit, Toyota is shameless at pricing some 22RE parts. I opted to buy a 15 dollar bearing when I saw this nonsense). ![]() ![]()

I had a brake light out on Pepper so I figured it was a good opportunity to switch to LEDs. [img]http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads26/Screenshot_20230626_150500_Gallery1687806160] ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last little project, simple but annoying, the arm pad on my Human Touch Perfect Chair was loose. Mind you, I have not worked on one or even assembled a Zero Gravity chair since we closed the stores in 2013. Well, none of the screws you could see were loose, then I remembered that I probably had to remove the pad from the armrest. And of course the Allen bolts are standards. Well, sure enough, once I got the pad off, there were 2 Allen bolts holding the plate the the arm pad mounts too were very loose. A few quick turns and reassemble and back the way it should be. BTW, these are great chairs and I highly recommend them. ![]() https://www.humantouch.com/perfect-chairs/

Heh. Had a wonderful tenant with good 'guard kitty' who followed me around the apartment looking for blood when I went in to make approved repairs. Nothing would stop it. If I turned around, it was always crouched there looking to take a half cup of flesh out of the back of my leg.

Too bad you can't get a piece of Formica, or some such, to lay on top after you finish with the wood refinishing.

If you look at post 1989, you will see his camper shell extends beyond the bed of the truck. Okay in a straight line, but you need to be able to turn.

Bought a cheap tv a few years ago. It started flashing "No signal", then sometimes picture would return, then "Resolution not supported" with BSOD. Occasional random flashes in the middle of movies then normal after 10 seconds. It would be fine for hours and weeks but if rewinded or paused would go into the loop again. Two different DVD players and same result. Drove me nuts. It was okay 80% of the time. Maybe this monitor wasn't made for tv? Tried every single resolution setting possible. Some would pulse the brightness. Tried off/on and switching the input select. Unplug to clear memory. Wiggled cords. If I plugged it into the other HDMI port and restarted the tv while the DVD was playing it would work. Then yesterday it started buzzing and gave a 1 second flash every 30 seconds. I was done messing with it. Ready to be recycled. This tv was defective. Nope. It was the brand new Belkin HDMI cable I'd purchased at that time. The one variable not checked. The most non-obvious thing to the symptoms. Different cable. Works fine today.

You have to pull the air box to access the low side port. Awesome design. When pulling the air box, I noticed the bellows leading to the intake is torn, and one of the rubber pieces that holds the bottom is missing. The missing mount may have led to the torn bellows, I don't know. But the stupid bellows is $120 at the dealer, or $66 for a Dorman at ********. There's another option on eBay for under $20, I'm thinking of trying one of those first, can't be any worse than the Dorman one. |

If it continues to be a problem....look for firmware updates in the menu of your tv. Some will auto-update...others will not.
