G'day!
|
One of my monthly accounts has some hedges that are getting a little old. I planted them 10 years ago when I did the landscaping. In particular the 'Trinette' Scheffleras, of which there are 4 separate hedge groupings...2 in back and 2 in front.
I cleared it with the owner to cut them way back and this morning did the first grouping (5 plants). My approach was to use my handheld Kebtec cordless pruners. Took just under 1 hour including hauling the cut branches to the curb for pickup tomorrow. I also filled two 30 gallon pots with small pieces. I will continue to cut the others down, timing the work with each week's yard waste pickup day (Wed. here). These Kebtecs are NICE!

An update on a previous post:
Saturday my usual "helper" came across the lawn and put my golf cart away for me when I wasn't looking. He managed to completely FUBAR the latch on the double door to our "barnage." (long story behind that name.) ![]() ![]() After looking for the proper astragal and being horrified at the prices of even the wrong ones, I took note of my situation and decided to pull an end run on the whole problem. Instead on spending $200 plus on some kind of stragal I installed a couple of cane bolts at a cost of just over $30. ![]()

We removed the front bumper cover, fenders, fender liners, and headlights from the little Corolla today. We also sanded the repaired areas on the underside of the hood. Getting it ready to be put back together soon.

I'm working on this at the moment. I have masked off the thin chrome strips on the Corolla grill and it is almost ready for painting. Tools used: Washi tape, hobby knife, and a magic stick.

Pressure washer pump went and I had hard time finding one that fit my needs.
The one I got worked great, but I couldn’t get the spray hose connected without deflating the tire. Need to Jack this bad boy motor up to clear tire. Easy you say? Need exact length bolts, so now I’m tapping and cutting bolts. Worked out great. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

The magic stick is made of Teflon and is used for panel removal. We use them at work. I'm not sure of the actual name of the thing, but everyone has always called it a "magic stick". They work great for when you need to pry on something that you don't want scratched up.

She lived with an Aunt and Uncle when the tree fell on her car and they didn't want to claim it on their home owner's insurance so she was pretty much stuck with a damaged car that she couldn't drive. My son and I are fixing the car for her. Edit: engine size is a 1.8 ltr. Sent from my SM-S916U using Tapatalk

A 1.8 ltr. Very nice. VERY nice of you to fix it for her.
I've always had a Corolla since about the mid 1980's. I'm up to number 6 or 7 now. The latest is a 2014 wagon with a 1.5 ltr engine and cvt transmission. It uses so little fuel it's unbelievable. Probably half the fuel the previous year 2000 used. GF's is a near new 2 litre hatch. Compared with mine it's a bit of a racing car. Quite refined, but I prefer my wagon. |

My first thought as well. Then .... it would have to go straight up as the motor was to the left and the handle to the right. The current fitting is pressed in so now I'm buying a $20+ fitting. And I have to change my clothes and go shopping.
I had all the parts to do it this way.

![]() New headlights should arrive at the end of the week, and I will touch up the bumper cover this week as well. We may have it all back together this weekend. Edit: The car is a Corolla LE. Sent from my SM-S916U using Tapatalk
