G'day!
|
Did some pruning this morning before it got too hot and then put a top coat on a couple wood benches to give it some glossy texture after 2 coats of primer paint....
I used the one I'm pointing to: Also doing some fairing repairs for my red VFR: Later will get back to finishing the hydraulic clutch repairs....

Got around to replacing the sink faucet this morning. Only had to buy a new faucet. The shut off valves were a pain, but finally gave in to some gentle persuasion and the flex lines were good to go too.

^^^ Just curious...and I'm sure you have reasons.
If replacing the faucet, why did you go with a two handle? I know others that I have asked the same and most of them just say "I don't know why" Myself...I like a single handle for temp control.

Counterclockwise?

The 2 handle is an old school cartridge. The one handle has plastic crap in it that breaks or blows out. I think ....

This is considered my wife's bathroom. She wanted a two handle so I got a two handle. This is at the end of the hot water run, ie it's the furthest from the hot water heater which is located up front in the garage. Getting hot water takes a while so temp regulation isn't really a problem. At least I've never heard her complain about it. The old faucet was one I put in 15 yrs ago or so, I think. I know I put it in and we didn't have a lot of money to spend on it so it was a cheap one (Glacier Bay) from HD.
This one is a Delta and should out last me, I hope. I'll be feeling this little exercise tomorrow I'm sure. At 72 I don't bend like I could back in the day.

^^^ Thanks....I understand now.
I didn't know about the short life of the single handles....gives me something to look forward to. ![]() Changing a faucet out is a bad position to be in...esp if it's in a smaller vanity.

Of course that technique may not hold up in a multi-person household; I only have to accommodate me.

Fun
Finished building my panel overlay today... didn't want to build a replacement blank yet because we'll likely loose the g meter and transponder in a couple months. The iPad mount is a guardian unit and seems to work very nicely.

Handyman side hustle......hang a used hollow core door in a remodel rough opening. After squaring up the bottom of the door and ripping it to the final width there was no remaining frame on the hinge side or the bottom and the door was now 3/4" too short. Milled a new core frame out of 2 x 4 and re-skinned the bottom extension with fiberboard. The extension will not show after final painting. Turned out great.

^^^ Lol...I have a 10X14 ft wood shed with doors that I had to do that to also.
The cement pad approach is too close to a tree and the roots keep raising the pad each year. So I take the door off and trim a little each time. Your fixed door looks great.

Yep - my front door rubs at the bottom. It sucks and I have been procrastinating doing the repair. I did it many years ago too.
You should see it after we get a hurricane.....lol......talk about dragging......

Foster dog checking it out and being surprised every time the sprinkler gets him wet... ![]()

^^^ Might try a bale of straw. After seeding, lightly cover it with the straw and then soak it down.
The straw will keep the moisture at the seed level. (as long as the seed is barely pushed into the soil) A week would be the minimum for seeing new growth.

This seed came with a sort of water holding mulch product mixed in. I’ve been to this rodeo before and it always surprises me how it appears nothing is growing and then all of a sudden you have a green beard growing. Rutager

^^^ Great...you should be good then.
I usually figure at least 10 days here in MI before I can see the sprouts.

Todays handyman project - hang a pocket door in a metal Rocket Pocket Door metal frame. Cannot shoot finish nails into the metal door frame so I used construction adhesive to install the split jambs. Locktite PL375 adhesive has a 48 hour cure time and does not expand so the jambs will remain flush with the door edge in the open position. Used blocking with pin nails to hold jambs flush and maintain uniform gaps while the adhesive cures. First pocket door install for me and I'm calling it a win!
![]() In this pic the door with attached split jambs is pulled away from the frame while construction adhesive is applied to the metal frame. The the door is thenl opened fully while the flush jambs are pressed into the adhesive (i.e. wet set like tile installation) ![]() ![]()
