Exactly why I took the time. I've got other power tools that are probably unsafe to plug in, let alone use, but I still do; I don't think I have any shields on any of my other grinders, but I wanted to keep the blockhead 'nice' because it's nice having one.

What’s a block grinder? The shape of the grinder motor housing? how old are they?

I’ll have to take a picture of mine tomorrow. It’s only about 25 to 30 years old.

It does have a slight slant. The rule of thumb for avoiding ponding water on a flat surface is a quarter inch of drop per foot. My roof drops 3.5" in 12' but looks flat. I can get several feet of snow where this cabin is. No matter how steep your pitch is it can still pile up. You have to build for the load. As long as it drips off the back where it doesn't matter I'm good, and it does, I checked with a hose

The low end of the roof is in back of the refrigerator and stove. The poly roofing extends several inches past them and the rail and water sheds harmlessly onto the ground. (The tall white fridge looks like a cabinet)

My projects these days are a lot smaller than most of you here have undertaken. I bought an LGB locomotive off the GW site and it needed work as it didn't run. I got it running but it still had needs as the connector to the sound in the coal tender was cut off. So I found a connector and some other parts for it and today I got the sound working. Next is timing the wheels/rails so it LOOKS like a locomotive should.

Table saw motor smoked out so i put a pool pump motor on it but it only spun the wrong way so i had to mount it on the side. It works better now. Roto tiller that i got for free and was trying to sell started leaking oil out the gearbox so I put a new seal in it. Easier said than done they are quite heavy duty a bit hard to dig out but i welded to it and then i could pry easier. Then noticed the rear wheel on my ramrod minibike was broken where the sprocket bolts on. So i weded tabs on the drum to mount where the halves bolt together. Much stronger now. Still sad about the broken wheel though.

Do you still have the pieces of the broken wheel? JB Weld 'em on and plug the holes with shorty bolts.

just one piece. I glued it back on. Jb weld is definately the way to go but im not concerned about it at the moment its not like anyone can see it. I dont think it will get any worse as far as the structure. The sprocket hub is supported on its own bearing. its just the twisting force that broke it all the bolts broke out the side and got crookid

Not fixing anything today, but I am painting. Repainting the downstairs bathroom that the previous owners decided one color was good for the walls and the ceiling.
