Made in America
The other thread got me thinking. Someone made the comment that they can easily avoid made is China products by filtering wants vs. needs. That made a lot of sense to me. I did not search there may be a thread like this I did not have time to scour the forums to see.
Sometimes you want to need something so I thought, why not have a thread where we can share cool products made in America? I have 4 items I could think of off the top of my head 3 are car related and I have purchased from each of these companies. I have no affiliation with any of these outside purchasing from them. Sun shade for your car that in my opinion is the best ever made, so much so I have one for every car I own and give them as gifts. https://www.heatshieldstore.com/ All my work vehicles get these floor mats, there are cheaper ones out there, nothing beats the quality of Weather Tech. https://www.weathertech.com/ If you want to make the interior of your car pop with class, Cocomats is the only way to go. I purchased a set for my wifes E30. Every time she gets in it she comments the floor mats are a wonderful surprise that makes her smile every time she sees them. https://www.cocomats.com/coco The last mailbox you will ever buy. I have one and it is a beast. I love their slogan. I can attest the mailbox is substantial. "Breaking bats and bending pry bars since 1994" https://www.fortknoxmailbox.com/our-story/

I have a Covercraft sun shade in my 911. It is a custom fit, and made in Pauls Valley, OK. My sun shade is 15 years old, and still in great shape, and gets a lot of use.
https://www.covercraft.com/us/en/sunscreens They too have a complete line of car covers and sunshades.

Tools...SK, snap-on, both USA...yes spendy, but good quality. Glad I got my "USA" stamped Craftsman stuff before they went to the dark side.

my stepdad bought weather tech for his chevy.
a few year of hard hunting destroyed them. they were warped from abuse. shotgun shell boxes folding over edges, etc. i buy the cheap chinese ones from target. and my backyard dining table cost less than $50 from home Depot. table, two chairs and cushions. thank good for the homeland. there is just some stuff, i dont need the BEST.

The point of this thread was stuff made in America, please start a great products made in China thread if you want. I think there was a thread on here where the OP finally figured out in his 60's, sometimes buying something good once is better than buying cheap crap over and over again. I figured that out in my 30's. I prefer to buy a good quality product built to last over cheap crap I have to replace over and over again. My backyard dining set cost me $1200, it was made locally and is made of teak wood. I expect to have it for many many years and it looks fantastic.

As my Grandfather used to say "The most expensive thing you can do is buy cheap". The Weber gas grill I just bought is made in the USA. 10 year warranty, replacement parts readily available and it's built like a tank.
It's weird when you get older and buy really good stuff and think "Man, this thing will probably out live me!".

My Weber grill just turned 20 years old, no sign of it failing me. 3 years ago I replaced the burners and diffusers with stainless. I think I am good for another 20 years now. Prior to that I went through a cheap grill every 2-4 years as they fell apart before my eyes.

Cooper tires on the truck, designed and made in USA.
Goodyear Eagles on the Porsche, made in USA. Made in USA is a consideration for me, I take the time to do the research. Edit-1: At least half my stereo equipment is made in USA. Edit-2: My 30 year old bicycle that still works just fine. ![]() ![]()

Great Eastern Cutlery pocket knives
Spyderco knives- most are USA made Leatherman- the higher end stuff still USA Weber grills All my guitar gear is USA made except for gretsch which is owned by fender but made in Japan There are 2 Chinese companies which make great products I am proud to own. 1 Olight flashlights. 2 Sangean radios/short wave radios. Love both companies. Both companies seem to take pride in what they design and build. Most Chinese stuff is garbage I wore a hole through my weathertech Matt with my heal in 12 months. I would buy them again but I wasn’t happy about that One thing that bugs me is bicycles. If you want a made in USA high end bike be prepared to spend about $6 to 10k Last edited by ramonesfreak; 06-12-2019 at 10:28 AM.. |

I've used Weather Tech mats for years - currently on my third set for my 92 Toyota. I started out with the grey ones, in thick rubber, (ribbed for my pleasure), not the thinner, molded plasticky ones with the high sides for ultimate water retention. They didn't last as long as I would have liked, and when I contacted WT they agreed that the black rubber ones had superior wear characteristics, so that's what I've been using since, and I'm pretty happy...
(edit) do they still make the grey ones? I haven't checked in decades.

I put similar to the grey except black in my FJ. I was more concerned about total coverage / protection vs. heavy duty. We get in and out of both trucks about 15-20 times a day and are usually tracking mud and dirt in with us, occasional dog poop too. (thanks for picking up after your pets!!) It is nice to be able to take them out, spray them down with simple green and power wash them off.

Just replaced the one year old Weathertechs in my wife's Flex because they had already started to fade and curl. Check out Husky Liners, made an hour from me in Winfield, KS.
![]() As for made in the USA, I’ll happily pay a little more when there’s an option, particularly when that is the quality option.
