It blows my mind that the southern belles wore multiple layers of clothes and survived 135 heat index as just another day with no electricity at all, so not even a fan.

With no deodorant, no showers, and no TP! ewwww.

So our humidity has been lower this week. Right now it's only 60% with temp at 80.

I know it won't last - but wow - so much nicer for working outside!

60% is crazy high, we have that today and I'm dying!
Luckily the temp isn't very high so I'll prolly survive.

My brother suggested Gator Aid, which replenished something that I had sweated out and helped me to get feeling better, and able to continue working.

Cheers Richard

I get the gator-aid in the US, but do they have Croc-aid in Australia?

well how 'bout this?

"A strong cold front will produce up to a foot of snow in the Northern Rockies "

sammyg2 06-16-2020 03:51 PM

But it's a dry cold.

flatbutt 06-16-2020 05:09 PM

actually Sammy I prefer the dry cold to a dry heat.

Anchorage -25F back in the early 90's. Very dry. You could not really sense cold until your skin became numb.

Cleveland a couple years later, -15 with some humidity and you were shivering in seconds.

Baz 12-01-2020 08:47 AM

Not anymore.......first cold weather of the cool season last night.

Into the 40's!

Turned on the heat for the first time since last winter.

I love this time of the year! :D

What Temperature Should I Set My Thermostat in the Winter?

68 during the day.
64 at night.

I can always tell a yankee type in the south, they complain and ***** when its hot outside. Thats why there is the north, If y'all cant take the heat, move on back up north, we wont complain. LOL!;)http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1606870730.jpg

We broke 50* today. Not sure if that's a record or not.
Snow showers for tonight and tomorrow.

ckelly78z 12-02-2020 03:14 AM

I was on the tractor plowing snow today...no problem staying cool ! We have a fire roaring in my woodstove, and am having hot chocolate as I type this !

At the beginning of summer a couple of years ago, the pastor at our church said, "this is the time of year when some folks start heading north for the summer. They call them 'snowbirds'...I call them cowards!"

Reminds me of the college football players using the term "opt out" right now.

They aren't "opting out".....they are just plain "quitting".

Apologies for the slight thread drift.....SmileWavy

11pm and still 80 degrees out!

Humidity at 82 freaking %!

We had a couple nice rain days last week, which really helped, but not much since.

C'mon rainy season!!!

flatbutt 06-29-2021 03:57 AM

Getting ready to HTR on the Duc. Was supposed to head out yesterday but it was too hot.

cabmandone 06-29-2021 04:02 AM

Yesterday marks the 2nd time I've been in the pool this year! Wooooooo Hoooooo

Nordwest 06-29-2021 05:11 AM

It was 108 at my house in Tacoma yesterday. 3rd day in a row over 100. Damn hot for the PNW.

Somehow Oklahoma City has the Seattle weather. We have had several days of rain, and it is 71 degrees now. The highs are high 70s to low 80s all week.

flatbutt 06-29-2021 02:56 PM

I took off for W Va today on the Duc but faded after 100 miles. I had to get out of the heat, then turn around. Trip delayed.

stevej37 06-29-2021 03:00 PM

76 and sunny today....perfect!
I love the hot weather.

Thermometer in my pool said the water was 104 degrees this afternoon. That was just the top and sides though. Once the water was mixed with the cooler zones it was only 95.

Baz 07-26-2021 10:26 AM

90 out - not too bad but the humidity is north of 70 so........

rfuerst911sc 07-26-2021 10:49 AM

Low 90's here by end of week may hit 97!!! But it's a wet heat 😩

porsche tech 07-26-2021 11:24 AM

Only 84 here today but the humidity is so bad the “feels like” temp is 97.

Tobra 07-26-2021 01:25 PM

Meh, triple digits again this week.

Summer weather here is why I worked in air conditioned restaurants going to college.

flatbutt 07-26-2021 01:27 PM

Dew point here is 72 at 90 F. Tough to be outside.

GH85Carrera 07-26-2021 01:30 PM

It is mid 90s and very humid today and the thunderstorms are building. We are likely to get a thunderstorm shortly. Afternoon thunderstorms in the summer are pretty common. Heat and humidity is pretty much the ingredients for a good thunderstorm. Just a thunderstorm, no rotation.

That will cool off things for today.

ckelly78z 07-27-2021 04:03 AM

Finally, some good pool weather...I love being out in the sun, relaxing in the pool because it doesn't happen very often (usually too busy).

I find that a thunderstorm will cool things off for anywhere from 10 mins up to 2-3 hours if it's strong enough. Then you get the heat back, but with an added dose of humidity that makes it feel 10x worse than it did before the storm cooled things off.

GH85Carrera 07-27-2021 06:13 AM

The thunderstorm on the south merged with one on the north just west of us. The south t-storm pushed the other storm to miss us and we got a whopping 0.01 inch of rain. The temp went from 95 to 78 in minutes. It is always just mind boggling how much energy is involved with just a little thunderstorm. How my gazillion BTUs would it take to cool an entire area in minutes?

The bad news is the humidity is 96% right now. 74 degrees and a heat index of 78 and sweating only make you wet, not cooler.

Yep, when I used to have a weather station, it always amazed me when temps would drop by 15º-20º+ in minutes.

I have the old Davis Vantage Vue and the sensor in the back yard. Love the thing.

Never heard of this so I looked it up - interesting!

This is what I love about this place - I learn things all the time!

Right now I only have the Weather Underground website with my zip code punched in for 10 day forecast - and they do a pretty good job - plus their radar image - and my own digital monitor with 3 remotes. One outside the front door, a second one in the attic, and the third in my garage.

The reason I have them in the garage and attic is both have new roof coverings and I'm curious how those are affecting the temps inside.
