^^^^ What’s the fix for something like that bugs? Can you grind and polish it out or does it get replaced?

That calls for a new prop and engine tear down to inspect the crankshaft.
Even if the prop can be salvaged, the expensive part is the engine tear down/ inspection.
Don't want to keep flying if the prop flange is bent or has a hairline crack.

A friend of the family had the prop repaired on his Cherokee 6. A couple years later that part of the blade separated from the prop. 8 inches is a lot to lose. He was flying some one on one of the donar flights, don't remember what they are called, when he crashed in the dense woods in MN.

That is exactly what is happening. Prop pulled and is scheduled to be installed and ferry permit pulled to take to the maintenance facility. From there, engine pulled and sent to Lycoming for the magic to happen.

Hearst Castle at San Simeon. Before I saw the castle I thought Paso Robles so pretty close. My little game on Bring a Trailer is to try to guess the location based on the first couple of pics if there’s background (trees, hills, grass, house) in the photos. Amazing how close you can get.

bug - sorry to hear. I will say, airplanes are more $$$ pain than Porsches...I remind my wife that I could have decided to restore a Waco or Stearman, and test drives would require extra life insurance...

Looks like he has two of my favorites, the Fouga Magister there, bottom left of pic in Patrouille de France colors and the red one in the middle left of the main group. I recall seeing the Patrouille de France at a couple of airshows in the UK in the early mid 70's and fell for the Fouga with it's V tail as it seemed so much cooler than the Red Arrows Folland Grants.

Saw these flying out of the Charleston airbase this morning. About 12 to 15 every 30 seconds.

Had paid and planned a flight in their P51, they found metal flakes in the oil days before my flight, got refunded and engine shipped out to US for full rebuild and since then owner has been unwilling to do paid rides with it :(
I should perhaps get ride in their T6 Harvard instead, bit cheaper or longer flight for the money

I didn't know the Magister existed until I saw the movie J C Superstar. There was a scene in which two of them overflew a character. They were probably IDF units. Since that was about 45 years ago, it took me a while to figure out what they were. I am amazed at how low they sit on their gear.

There is a Fouga Magister featured in the recent film The Siege of Jadotville.

Pretty good film as well (true story), can be found on Netflix.

Same aircraft? There were a couple of these flying around our local airfield bitd that I managed to get pics of - and the engines made a very interesting whistling sound.

(Edit: I remember now I think I was told it was French.

They had a bit of a bad rep in Belgium , something like 16 crashes in the entire time, but keep in mind they were both training planes, for new fast jet pilots.. but also used as planes for acrobatic demo team, and used a lot as shuttle/hour planes, like officers needing a ride to another airbase, or having to do hours for profficency while on staff duty (similar to how T33 and T38's were used in the USA). And it was not unusual for some to do a bit of hotdogging while they went up for just a casual flight.. things were different in the cold war

The Fouga Magister crashed in a private garden a few steps from a house. The person living there was really lucky, he just returned back from his garden to his house a minute before the crash. Cdt Thierry Cloeckaet was killed."

There is no Airbase near Overijse, so you know that was not an approved training exercise, at all. Pilot probably had a GF down there..


So all in all , 16 crashes, over 30+ years, all uses.. It was probably not the plane that caused most of those



Always thought they were cool looking birds, we regulary saw em in Ypres during summer, as that was like a route from airbases inland, to the airbase at the coast..
They would fly to AFB De Panne before lunch.. have muscles and fries dinner... and then fly back... thats how they get their proficiency flying hours ... :D
