That was wild.

I did not know that, thanks for the intel.

Latest new aviation T-shirts arrived. If you haven’t seen his YouTube channel, be sure to check it out. Aviation, bad financial decisions and dad jokes. Entertaining at the very least.

Brother sent me these, guess they had a rare and beautiful visitor at Beale AFB yesterday.
Two place Hawker Sea Furry headed to Eagles Nest in Ione for some smoke generator modifications.

Yup.
When I was based at Tacoma Narrows, my hangar had the big bi-fold door up front, and a garage door in the back. Great place for car maintenance, right behind the airplane.

Open both doors on a windy day, and the floor is clean.

The airport bums knew I had ice cream bars in the freezer. Visitors aplenty.

The PLAN is taking shape.

Building a Brickmainia U2 for the squadron at BEALE AFB so they can display it in the main hall or Heritage Room. The display case I need to make is going to be sizable too since it has a large wingspan and mount. Thinking 4’ x 4’ x 12” in height.

Serendipitously met the guy (Capt. Ed Beuamont) who crashed the U2 (now) on a pole outside Beale--that's all I got.

Airport dogs are just the best. Sign me up in the next life as an airport loving dog. Maggie also recognizes any white truck as a treat mobile, makes me smile too.

^^ Great photo!

There was a time after the war when you could pick up a surplus Corsair, Mustang for a few thousand bucks.

Was watching an episode of Helicopter Missions ans this was one with Larry Liss. His instructor wrote on the back of his cert that he was the worst pilot and he shouldn't worry about getting shot because he was going to kill himself flying. he later received a DFC.

Rescue at Cau Sang Be. The used their rotors to cut the bamboo as they landed since there were no clearings to land in.

Was on Tubi: Helicopter Warfare. Ep 2.

Ep 1 was good as well. Rescuing some SAS from a glacier during the Falklands war. 2 of the 3 helos crashed.

I heard there were ranchers picking up war surplus B-17s at auction just for the high octane fuel still in the tanks.
Use the gas in your farm equipment, and scrap the airframe.

A saw mill owner near my home bought several Hudsons for the engines, undercarriage and hydraulic systems.
He couldn't get them through the one lane bridge by our place so did a deal with my Dad to make a road through a grain field to a river ford.. He paid my father with sacks of grain.
That was a long time ago.

Best
Les
