Very dangerous FUBAR during the filming of "Tora Tora Tora"...and every time I've seen this scene, I remember thinking, "that looks way too close and chaotic... it's not right."

I have a hundred or so hours in the CH-53E. Like flying your house from the bathroom.

I took this pic on a mesa in Colorado. I had to pee.

We were delivering new E's from the Sikorsky Factory to the Marines who were in Tustin at the time.

Super Stallion - a badass helo indeed. There are some great videos of E's doing loops that defy understanding. I only have about 10 hours of flight time in helos but always enjoyed being in front instead of in the rear with fluids dripping on me...

We attended the Rutan (Dick(85) and Burt’s(80)) 2023 Birthday Bash in Idaho. Headed out Thursday evening (last week) and rolled into Coeur d’Alene noon on Friday. Headed home Sundsy, passing through Bend, OR to pick up a 5-speed that was overhauled for our 912. Total trip ran a hair shy of 2K total miles.

A very humbling experience to be in the presence of folks that are pioneers in the advancement of composite aircraft and Inovation. Mrs. Bugs n I met some of the nicest and friendly people there of all ages. Burt’s wife, Tonya, Burt’s daughter and associated family were wonderful to be around, it truly was a great time.

Burt talking about some of his amazing exploits.

Dick Ritan talking about the 1986 Voyager build and world flight. The gentleman to Dick’s right, with his arms crossed, was instrumental in the project. Very quiet engineer who exuded a high level of knowledge and expertise.

Got to finally meet Mike Beasly who is the editor for Canard Owners Builders Association (COBA). Ret USAF and a genuinely very nice guy. He and a buddy flew out all the way from Georgia to attend the event. He has posted some of his flights on YouTube where he takes folks for a ride in his recently completed beautiful LongEZ.

Great guys willing to talk shop and true pioneering legends.

A big shout out to Dr. Bird’s daughter Rachel, who runs the Bird Museum and Inovation center for the event.

Was able to have both of them sign our VariEZ’s logbook and the inside of an inspection panel.

Awesome work RS, keep the momentum rolling. I am living vicariously through you since I’ve stalled on my progress of our VE.

Just a few in attendance at KCOE.

I have a silly question, why are all of the aircraft sitting with the nose wheel tucked in when they are tied down? Doesn't that scratch the paint?

Thanks for any answers,

Dave

I know there are kits available and that may be the answer...
The question is, -
What might be the best material options to polish up a Helicopter bubble?
I am thinking of a real buffer pad with a real buffer which I am way too familiar with, and some 3 M polish compound.
What do you guys polish a canopy with?

Retractable nose gear (less drag) and there is a rubber pad for parking in that position. My dad's EZ was hand start (prop) for less weight and the aircraft would "get away" if not parked in the down position upon firing. This is not a picture of my dad's EZ just one borrowed from the net.

Fantastic.

She is, as Stuart Scott used to say, as cool as the other side of the pillow.

Thanks for both posts!
