Very cool t6dpilot!
I never knew why https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claire_Lee_Chennault painted on shark's teeth but called the group Flying Tigers.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pappy_Boyington is more known for his F4U in the t.v show https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baa_Baa_Black_Sheep_(TV_series) but started with them.

This is the P-40 scene I always remember from the movies:

One of my favorites in FSX.
All the speed and range of a Mooney M20.
Has a more powerful engine, much lighter air frame, acrobatics, and full view screen. O2 and air brakes to boot.
(but stubby wings give it a +10mph 65mph stall speed and 7k lower ceiling at 18,000ft)

Even though it only has two seats it is almost the same payload capacity.

Everyone knows the Wright brothers invented flight...or did they?

Leonardo Da Vinci and probably many others had already thought up designs well before that.
History of the Airplane

The Wright Brothers patented 821,393 for a “flying machine" and then successful sued everyone including genius motorcycle builder Glenn Curtiss until the Federal Government stepped in at WW1. Curtiss then created several very successful war airplanes. The government later also paid them both off to join forces, and the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curtiss-Wright corporation was made and still going today.

But before the Wright Brothers, there was at least one known successful flight.

Sometimes Wiki is a good general warehouse: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claims_to_the_first_powered_flight

The Wright Brothers were the first to demonstrate sustainedpowered flight...all with wing bending as the control on the air vehicle in the early versions. Others may have been first in powered flight.

The history of aviation is a boundless exercise in innovation and genius...really incredible stuff. Again, Wiki works:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_aviation

If you love aviation, go to Kitty Hawk.

I have also been to a few receptions at the WB House in Dayton...which I think is open to the public. Their story is magic.

Probably the MZ variant. Note the angular structure on the top of the fuselage.
