That was cool. The planes in that remind me of the XBox360 game Crimson Sky’s. Very similar aircraft that you can fly and fight in. Thanks for sharing that. ![]() A blast from the past Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Those actually looked like a pretty close interpretation of an actual Japanese WW2 design.

When I was at the Sikorsky Factory in Bridgeport, CT my Dad attended a reunion at West Point. My family came up and we went to the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome that Sunday. Fantastic. Worth the time! Not my pic:

Thought I might post pics of one of my garage walls. I have been hanging on to these prints since the mid-1980s. I finally framed and displayed them. Some are signed by famous folks associated with the particular aircraft.
![]() ![]() ![]() This last one is a bit unique...it is a drawing created by Alex Raymond. He was assigned to document my FILs Marine air squadron due to the fact that they were some of the first trained for close ground support. They flew TBMs. Alex had achieved fame as the creater of Flash Gordon, and he joined the Marines during WWII. He also designed their squadron patch - VMTB-143 Rocket Raiders on the USS Gilbert Islands. Last edited by SpyderMike; 08-24-2022 at 01:30 PM.. |

The Space Shuttle "Columbia". My Dad checked me out of school one day, I had no idea why. I was in the eighth grade at the time. He told me that the space shuttle was being flown back to Cape Canaveral atop the transporter 747 and it was stopping at Eglin AFB, so he checked me out of school so that we could watch it fly in. It was so cool. We stood at the shore of Boggy Bayou in Niceville, Florida and watched it as it approached. Later that day, the public was allowed onto the base to view the shuttle and we went to see it. I had a little Kodak Disc camera at the time. I took pictures of the front half and rear half of the plane and shuttle and put them together to make one picture, not too bad for a kid with a basic camera. Lol. The next day, me and some friends watched it take off, I remember it seemed like it took forever for it to get up off the ground and then it flew right overhead. Pretty amazing stuff.
