Bitter sweet weekend for the ol Bugstrider household. After 19.5 years of ownership, the ol 150-heavy has left Placerville (KPVF) for the last time last night. I don’t flip vehicles and usually once I have one, I hold onto it. But the time has come to hand her off to another who will look after her. Need the county hangar space to get the FastMover-1 up and flying. Onward and upward as they say. The new owner is a super good guy, A&P for United and a CFI at a local flight school. Has been searching high and low for a solid 150 to commute in. She will be well cared for. On a side note for those airplane owners on the fence about updating the anti collision beacon to a new LED. The one I installed on 00J was visible 20 miles away as I followed along on flight-aware. Very impressive safety performance.

Yessir, doing his first official pre-flight as the new owner and before flying her home.

This is a pic of him leaving the area, approximately 25 miles away per flight aware. The small dot above the blue taxi light is the new LED beacon I installed at annual.

Those are some great shots. Never seen one in person.

I don’t have my rotor enforcement but I have always said it would be worth it to get some stick time in my all time favorite “hot rod of the gods” MD 300 - 500 series. The K-Max is a close second. I done really know why, but it is a cool arse platform.
This one came in while taxiing back in my buddies LongEZ. Tis the fire season, this bad boy shows up and stands by every fire season. I could watch it all day.

Got to fly rear seat on Sunday to get some transition time beating up the traffic pattern at Mather Field (KMHR) in the LongEZ. Wow! Talk about a taxing feat. I honestly consider it more simulated IFR training.
Had the iPad linked to my sentry on the left side of the canopy, the head rest and my buddies giant melon blocking all of my forward visibility. Had no solid line on 22R. Only had 22L for a few seconds in my perforable. Good flight anyway.
Shot via the camera at the top of the canopy.

Was attempting the gratuitous selfi for the wifey when he said “your plane”. Still got the selfie with my best face of concentration. lol to me, I think it looks more like “oh chit!” The limited canard time I have really has shown me that they fly with two fingers on the stick. A full five finger grip with fists of ham seriously causes over control issues at high speeds.

GP is for George Pereira (RIP) who also designed the other red airplane (GP-4) and it too was wooden construction. George had a hangar at Rio Linda and I had the pleasure to fly with him in the GP-4 a few times. I actually liked flying in the GP-4 better than with my dad in his Varieze. Good times.

How do you tell if a new unused tire is too old to actually use?
