The news report I heard stated that it is a legal requirement for at least one member of the boat's crew to stay on watch.

I don't know if that's true or not.

If it is......there's the problem. Human error.

There are no eyewitnesses to the fact and the company lawyer is already disavowing the statement. So, it is not fact, yet.

I wanted to believe that the company owner was on the right side of things and not running a shoddy outfit. We don't live in a world now where that is possible. Yes, all are going down with the ship, so to speak. Will there be criminal charges? I guess we wait on that. Lawsuits are a given.

It will be easy to prove...no one is going to lie and say that they were awake and watched the fire burn.

Hell on earth

This has nothing to do with the determination as to the cause of the fire.

With the discussion of possible lithium batteries as an ignition source(hypothetical only at this time) it has really had me thinking about what batteries I have and how I charge them. Today, I pull out my wiz-bang “Antigravity” battery, and find this.

Swollen cell to the point it split the case

If we can gleen anything from this tragedy, it might be awareness of rechargeable lithium-ion‘s. And I say that even owning a 2015 Chevrolet Volt

No one is going to lie for the owner’s legal liability. This is a potentially billion dollar lawsuit w teams of top lawyers, a flat lie like that would not last 5 seconds and there is no incentive for anyone to do it.

It’s s non-issue.

I have a habit of looking at the local obituaries once a week and noticed a Dr. who lives
up in my neck of the woods also perished on the boat. It has touched alot of families near
and far.

Yep. It only took about 4 days after the fire before I talked to a friend who lost someone on the boat. 34 people is a lot of connections to a lot of other people.

Also, when you get old enough, almost everyone reads the obituaries everyday. It’s where you find your old friends that you lost touch with.
