Anyone ever try aspirin? - mechanisms still unknown.
That said, it's tough to sort this whole "it's for the pain" claim when so much of the MJ family use looks more like addiction than treatment. That is, even heroin abuse is "for the pain (alleviation)." |
Makes my Boa Constrictor very hard to hold....
It's definitely "snake oil" :)! |

I use both, the creams with THC and those without. You'll have to educate yourself on the differences...I don't have the time or the inclination to do it for you. Before I tried any of the CBO/CBD alternatives, I did copious amounts of homework and talked to a lot of folks (people like me that have an aversion to "pills") and found trusted providers. I am able to walk and "WOG" (not a pretty sight) without pain and I have been able to exercise, lose weight and box again. That is a big deal to me. I can't play hardball anymore but there are few over 60 leagues...the 50 year-old guys are too tough:) I have no desire to smoke MJ again but consider the creams a godsend, placebo or not. I take no medications at 63 (just turned 63 today), zippy. Right hip replacement is in my future, but I can delay for now. |

I think it's great that it's working for you, I might have to try it sometime for my chronic back/disc pain. The thought of getting addicted to opioids in my old age is enough to make me throw in the towel. I think that I get where Island is coming from but as usual, his delivery could use some work. Ibuprofin is what I take for headaches and minor to severe short term pain and it works extremely well but long term use of it or Tylenol or aspirin has other bad side effects. One of my doctors told me recently that if Ibuprofin was invented today, it would be a prescription medicine, for sure. It works that well. If CBD and CBO really doesn't have any undesirable side effects, it could be the miracle medicine of the times. |

Context: MJ 'dispensaries' around here all had "Patients" . . .until it became legal for recreational use. That experiment spurred the sub-components to become available in legit drug stores. But they have to advertise a lot to get out from under the previous cloud of recreation use, but the small players don't want the FDA drug hoops. Although I expect the big pharma's will welcome the FDA hoops as a barrier to market, blocking the small players. It's all a hot mess in flux. |

But to your point, it was around for 100 years before anyone knew how it worked. |
Took the gel caps for several weeks and was sleeping better until I ran out. Had to wait until I got back in town/home to start the extract without THC. Sleep is better again taking it.

Edit, crap that was as defeatist a post if ever I read one. It's not that bad honestly, pain is a normal that I can deal with, doing it for many years. I still walk through it with fun and laughter. For me, over the counter pain meds like ibuprofen are 100% more effective than CBD. |

Take glucosamine. Seems to only be effective for 50% of people who try it. Works for me and I’d be a cripple without it. I’m only 55 and desperately trying to put off a hip replacement. CBD works for me for now but the reality is the hip won’t get better and at some point I’m going to have to bite the bullet. |
Bump.
Any updates or new findings/suggestions? Any more specific CBD oil brand recommendations? Thanks, JA |
Ill update. We did a test run a few months ago . I bought a small vial, and took it for a few days. I swear , that I felt better, with no real side effects. Did the tincture under my tongue route
I have a 14 year old autistic son, that puberty is kicking his ass. This is the whole reason for my trial . He is having a really hard time, and going through depression, anxiety, and anger issues . On my last run, I let him try it for 3 days. Both the wife, and I noticed a difference , and he said that he honestly, felt better . We waited a few weeks, but gave it another run, we are now on week # 2. Placebo or not, it is helping this kid . He is like a different person . He takes a small batch before school, and takes another round when he comes home. Both of us, his grandparents, and teachers ( who have no idea ) all have commented that he seems to be handling himself much better . Wifey and I are strongly against psychotropic drugs to manage his symptoms. We really want to give him the tools to succeed in life without being all doped up on who knows what, with all the unknowns side effects . Im sold for now . |
This is the guy my sister gets hers from.
Who is Rick Simpson and what is Rick Simpson Oil (RSO)? Lisa Rough May 12, 2017 Share If you’re interested in medical marijuana, you’ll inevitably hear about a form of cannabis known as Rick Simpson Oil, or RSO. RSO is a concentrated form of cannabis oil known to have medical benefits, particularly for cancer, but where did RSO come from? And who is Rick Simpson? Related Can Cannabis Cure Cancer? The story of Rick Simpson Rick Simpson stumbled upon his cannabis fame purely by accident. Long before “Rick Simpson Oil” was coined as a term, and long before cannabis was considered remotely mainstream, Rick Simpson was an engineer working in a Canadian hospital in 1997. Simpson was working in the hospital boiler room covering the asbestos on the hospital’s pipes with potent aerosol glue. The boiler room was poorly ventilated and the toxic fumes caused a temporary nervous system shock, causing Simpson to collapse off his ladder and hit his head. He was knocked unconscious and when he awoke, he managed to contact his colleagues to take him to the emergency room. He continued to suffer from dizzy spells and a ringing in his ears for years after the accident, but his prescribed medication had little effect, even making his symptoms worse. Related What are live resin cannabis concentrates? After seeing a documentary highlighting the positive benefits of using cannabis, Simpson inquired about medical marijuana but his doctor refused to consider it as a course of treatment. He ended up sourcing cannabis of his own accord and saw a significant improvement in his tinnitus and other symptoms. In 2003, three suspicious bumps appeared on Simpson’s arm. The doctor agreed that the bumps appeared to be cancerous and took a sample for a biopsy. Sure enough, the bumps turned out to be basal cell carcinoma, a form of skin cancer. Simpson had successfully treated his symptoms with cannabis in the past, and he had heard about a study from the Journal of the National Cancer Institute in which THC was found to kill cancer cells in mice. He made the decision to treat his skin cancer topically, applying concentrated cannabis oil to a bandage and leaving the cancerous spots covered for several days. Related Cannabis and cancer After four days, he removed the bandages and the cancerous growths had disappeared. Although his physician refused to acknowledge cannabis as a treatment alternative, Simpson was now a true believer in the medicinal powers of cannabis. From then on out, he began cultivating his own cannabis and harvesting the plants to create his own specialized form of cannabis concentrate, now known as Rick Simpson Oil, or RSO. It became his mission and goal to distribute cannabis oil to those who needed it, free of charge. He helped treat more than 5,000 patients with RSO, but his journey was not without its setbacks and struggles. Simpson’s own doctor refused to acknowledge the benefits, and he faced arrest and persecution in his native Canada. His home was raided on multiple occasions and he had over 2,600 plants cut down and confiscated by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, but Simpson persevered and continued to distribute cannabis oil. To this day, he continues to spread the word of his findings. Related The best cannabis strains for cancer-related symptoms How to make DIY Rick Simpson oil at home Making your own RSO at home is not difficult, and the process isn’t all that different from making cannabutter or other kinds of infused cannabis oil. Rick Simpson recommends using indica cannabis strains for best results, although patients may prefer to use the cannabis strains that work best for their medical condition. Note: This recipe will produce the full 60 grams of oil for a 90-day treatment regimen. If you’re looking for a smaller treatment course, you can easily divide the recipe into smaller amounts. For example, one ounce of cannabis will produce 3-4 grams of RSO. https://www.leafly.com/news/cannabis-101/what-is-rick-simpson-oil |
The massage and facial spa my wife works at will start offering massages with CBD hemp based oils soon. Benefits include pain management, anti-carcinogen properties, as well as a more relaxed experience.
I'm hoping I can be one of the practical test patients. |
